You inspired me to improve her tweet a bit.

Smug heart, #triggered confirmed.

And she linked to the podcast where she sounds like an idiot herself, I really hope some news outlets listen to that part and do a follow up.

"The Moon rests above the Earth"
"Great tacticle value"
"Mine lots of minerals"
"Great capability to send out transmissions to Earth from the Moon"
"This is how the dinosaurs were destroyed"
"Can I get some consensus here, are those reasonable statements?"

:stress:

I would guess this is a reference to Portal 2 but Wu doesn't play video games.

Off-earth mining has been suggested by serious scientists, among them Krafft Ehricke whose name comes in manliness only second to Max Planck.

Though Ehricke's long flirtation with Lyndon Hermile LaRouche may make him a bit of a lolcow himself.

In order to get minerals from space, you'd need far more advanced infrastructure than that provided by Elon Musk's reruns of the Saturn V. A Lofstrom Launch Loop might do the trick. Also, the moon is sub-optimal source due to having fairly high gravity and hardly any pure metals at its surface. Asteroids, pushed into earth orbit gradually by ion engines, might be far more practical, as many of them have surfaces made of undiluted metals, because they once were part of larger planetesimals which were sufficiently massive to have a molten metal core. When breaking up during collisions, the metal cores became part of the surface of fragments.

What Brianna means by "moon resting above earth" is beyond me. It will do so in 1.5 billion years*) or so when tides have braked it sufficiently to cause double-bound rotation (like the Pluto-Charon system already has now).

*) just before Revolution 60 for PC comes out.

I'm downright stunned how much this idiot is trying to stand on this type of laughable ground.

What Wu said was stupid, and the best way he could have dealt with it was to move on, and if anyone ever brought it up, either own it and take the high road and try to redirect the conversation back to campaign matters that are more important, or, if Wu ever had the good sense to realize sacrificing a bit of dignity would be sensible in this case, admit it was dumb and try to move on after admitting it.

Dwelling on trying to justify this kind of gaffe just reinforces he's got a hide like rose petals and that actual, intense political mudslinging would trigger him into another galaxy.

How many more national embarrassments like the moon rock story do you think it'll take for the democratic party to offer her some appointment in local government just so she'll sit down and shut the fuck up?

Unfortunately, Wu can never, ever be wrong. Everything is either taken out of context, or being used to sabotage her by the evil forces of the right.
Even when an actual astronomer told her the moon rock thing was stupid, she tried to wriggle out of it by saying "Oh but I'm still right about the moon being important."
