I've been watching the market all day and I actually have a really well developed theory on this.

It's important to know where money is coming from. Traditional US firms are, in fact, selling for the most part. All day the market has fallen to 3-5 down before jumping back up to about 0.5 up, it's been happening all day. The question is, where the fuck are these tens of billions of dollars coming from?

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you today's Asian indexes.

Asia is a total loss. Beyond correction and into bear territory. Asian markets are highly dependent on the manufacturing and export sectors, which are heavily dependent on US consumption. Tariffs plus weak US consumer confidence has Asian investors panicking.

What I think is happening, is these Asian investors are playing the long game. They are predicting a Trump victory and stock rebound, and are dumping their Asian holdings for US ones, replacing domestic money with their own, waiting for the rising tide to make their money back when domestic money returns to the market. The grand irony, of course, is that by predicting a Trump victory and acting on that prediction, they have very likely made it a reality.

The whole thing is quite fascinating, really.
I think you may be right, Carl.

Real shit: I'm honestly giddy, warm, and fuzzy on the inside that the White House Twitter page is actively celebrating the decade-long sobriety of JD Vance's mother. I've known people who died to their vices before they ever turned 25, I've had coworkers who almost lost it all and got their shit back together, and I have IRL friends who've done the same. A sobriety anniversary is honestly worth celebrating, and it feels like we're normalising recovery from addiction again instead of celebrating the vices that bring us there in the first place.

Staying sober for a decade is something worth celebrating. Good on her and good on them for highlighting it.

Reminder that Apple only has a factory in India because Modi put tariffs on the iPhone.

Well even now, most Indians generally trend toward Android phones because the price differential between an iPhone and Android is way too stark. For the price of an iPhone in India (even after they began making the product there), you could easily buy a cheap Android phone and have enough money left over for a cheap motor scooter. Sure, incomes are trending upward, but we're still a long ways off from Indians having the same type of purchasing power that Chinese people once had between the 1990s and the 2010s. That's also not even getting into how Google Pay, WhatsApp, and other non-Apple services are far more entrenched in everyday life over there than shit like Apple Pay and iMessage.

Are there Neocons in the room right now, Tucker?
He's gonna do it. He's gonna make anime real.
I wish Shinzo was here to see this.
