Pretty sure it's because of Joss and his stereotypical male feminist tendencies for being a gross creep. Firefly itself is beloved, but it puts progs in a pickle like Harry Potter where they're torn between brainless media consoomerism and pretending to have priciples. A marvelous outcome, though it would involve collusion from a corrupt prison authority and an unscrupulous TV network, would be a reality show set in a prison with the inmates including Patrick and all of his Stalkers.

“Enjoy Prison”, would be like Sam Hyde’s fish tank, except with Fatrick talking a big game from his cell during lock down.
As soon as lockdown ends though, he hides and will not say boo to a goose and cozies up to the guards.
