This is a false equivalence. Referring to a man by a female name is more closely analogous to calling the Gulf of America a mountain than it is to merely changing its name. Human names are inherently gendered, place names are not. Calling a man 'Isabelle' carries the tacit acknowledgement that you are agreeing that the man is a woman. Calling a place by a different name carries no such additional meaning.
