They're pretty good for a while but you need to plug them in to recharge and it seems every time I forget my charger everyone else only has the Apple iGirl chargers so I'm out of luck until I get her back home.

Probably bad for you, actually. Not only are you wasting your time and money, but inflicting some psychological and emotional issues upon yourself.
All social media is bad for you. You're seeing a carefully curated and doctored misrepresentation of other peoples' lives in a way that makes you feel worse about yours in comparison. It's the exact opposite of kiwifarms.

That aside, taking any photo or video a woman shares of herself online to be at all indicative of what they actually look or act like is lunacy. You might as well be watching anime or a vtuber or something, it's all equally fictitious.

iLadies, on the other hand...

Social media needs to die, and the freakish, alien loli porn portrayal of women it has fed to adolescent boys needs to be the part that dies first. Everyone wearing a pink wig, cat ears headphones, and a "yes daddy" crop top is committing a sex crime against humanity. They are creeps, they are freaks, they are sex offenders. Death camp for e-girls today, death camp for e-girls tomorrow, death camp for e-girls forever.

Social media needs to die
That's just human nature though, you're seeing what happens when you give the average person an outlet to voice themselves in a semi-unrestricted way.

So what you see is that yes, there's a lot of retards out there, and that is humanity: a big soup that's more than half rotten. That's why you have sayings as "clown world".

So the problem transcends social media.

I don't have time right now to explain why this is retarded but I might later.

"Human nature" can present as a trillion different things. Environments brings out different qualities in people, and can change them fundamentally. If we didn't have these mechanisms in society that fed into the very worst impulses of humanity, "human nature" would seem different. People aren't "the very worst/best thing they could do", they're what they've done and are doing.

I don't have time right now to explain why this is retarded but I might later.
Yes, "touch grass" is one, but a lot of people should not be this retarded, yet they are, whether they are a minority amongst your average citizen or not, it's a concerning number, and it's one of the contributing factors why stupid shit happens.

In my country that is palpable, what I'm saying is accurate.

And so the problem is not inherently social media, it's the education of people, the lack of empathy, and the lack of critical thinking.

It's not exactly the average person though. It's the most pathetic of the bunch you hear about the most. I do agree it transcends social media though.

This would be fine if it was not rotting the mind of the youth or if journos did not treat it as some kind of a popular opinion metric.

Normal people have no interest in doing propaganda on social media for their mild and reasonable opinions. And if they do, they won't get enough engagement to grow anyway. Because controversy is what makes you big.

As for the original question, it's obviously bad. It's an unhealthy behavior to idealize anyone. Let alone someone you know nothing about.

We probably got mixed with the things addressed though, I was commenting more about social media in general, not about perverts/e-girls/etc on it.

If for example we were talking about politics, there's an incredible amount of retardation I see not only on the Internet, but also from people in real life, and it's one of the reasons why in the country I'm right now, a lot of things are going badly.

Because people in general, in here, they are retarded. I have the privilege (or curse) of having someone in my family that works with immigrants/judges/associations/etc, and they cannot stop telling me about how moronic everyone is, from the lazy, criminal, narcissistic, demanding immigrants that come here for bullshit reasons, to the laws & people enforcing those laws.

So as I said, around here, it's like that, it's a complete unsalvageable disaster. It's retards on the web, and on real life in very high charge positions, and that's a problem with the culture & as I said, the lack of critical thinking, honesty, etc.

We were thinking about the same thing.

While I do agree that the overwhelming majority of people are retarded, I think that social media are representative of the very worst of them, and in turn influences the rest.

When whatever garbage a bunch of retards who spend their day circle jerking on Twitter reaches the masses in journos or teenagers, it imprints on other retards that this is somehow a consensus they should follow.

I think most people, no matter how stupid they may be, have no interest in participating to the discussion at all, and just share pics of their kids on FB.

Anyway, I think we kind of agree. I have had similar privileges to yours, and it's astounding to me how some people can be so self absorbed they deny reality so they can shove down your throat how good people they are.

Okay so

1) social media is not what happens when you give the average human being an outlet to voice themselves, that's what happens in the real world when you open your mouth. Social media is what happens when you either A) allow the average person to curate a performative presentation of themselves for gamified reward or B) allow the average person to express themselves with anonymity, pseudonymity, or at the very least from outside punching distance

2) the aforementioned gamification of expression inherently biases that expression, typically in a way that trends toward conformity to the lowest common denominator -- say the thing that appeals to the most people, get the most likes/upvotes/stickers -- or in a way that incentivizes misrepresentation of yourself for clout

3) the above process coupled with algorithmic content curation designed to hold your attention by showing you things you feel strongly about naturally fractures communities across ideological lines and funnels them into disparate echo chambers of like-minded people

4) these echo chambers, combined with the gamified quantitative feedback and Asch conformity, reinforce the positions that got the person there in the first place and thus the ideological homogeneity of the space

5) now insulated from any positions or even information that doesn't conform to the canon of the echo chamber, problem creep causes purity spirals within already polarized groups that drive them further into ideological extremes

6) all this occurs while individuals are subjected to only the carefully curated mistepresentations of the lives of others -- of which, by the virtue of quantitative feedback, the most exceptional have the most visibility -- undermining their confidence and self esteem and leading to extremely skewed perceptions of what the real world is even like

7) this entire process is extremely dopaminergic -- social media and apps in general are modeled after gambling machines -- which is not only addictive/compulsive but diminishes an individual's desire to do anything else

8) on top of all of that, virtually every social media platform is inundated with thirst traps designed to funnel you to porn sites, which is a whole other problem; virtually every social media platform is inundated with bots and glowies -- by some estimates 30%+ of all accounts -- with the express mission of influencing your perception of the world for political or other reasons; virtually all social media platforms are harvesting your personal data to further that end, and/or to sell you junk

It's all dogshit. It's a combination of spyware, propaganda, advertising, and chinese social credit, it is affecting your worldview, it is wasting your time and it is cheapening your relationships. And if you're enough of a loser, it causes you to care about e-girls of all things. Strangers you'll never meet who don't know you exist, who don't even have any talent or do anything, who you waste your time and thought on, and maybe even pay for the privilege to do so. It's insane.

Marcus Aurelius said something to the effect of, "That which does not make a man worse also does not make his life worse"; well, social media makes your life worse.
