Been waiting for this next stage.

I was talking to someone who works in finance and they were saying that even in my shit hole country our insurance premiums are going to go up because of the LA fires. It's something to do with the way the insurance networks are all globally linked.

It's because of the reinsurers. These are huge piles of money that insure actual insurance companies and rarely interface directly with the public. So the reinsurers are now under severe stress which affects how much liquidity they can provide.

If insurers can't be themselves insured, they are much less likely to write "risky" policies like ones that pay out in the event of natural disasters.
