With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

I've used them all and here is how I would rank them:

1. Kiwifarms, we easily have the highest quality discussion, least amount of thirst posting and coomer brain rot. You can actually have a discussion here.
2. Twitter is great for memes and clips and also is probably the most active. Downside is you can't have long form discussions really because of the format. Pretty good overall.
3. The reddit is exactly how you would imagine. People crying about how Sam is racist, people mocking those people, people crying over how Sam didn't pay burt the prize money because he's black. It's shit. The only upside is there is little coomerposting.
4. /bant/'s /ftl/ is the worst of the worst. Somehow even worse then the Reddit. Imagine taking the guy from /tv/ who would spam "Breed Sylvia" in every thread where a photo of her was posted and multipy that by like 80. That's /bant/. Just dozens of the biggest freaks imaginable.

For reference this is what the Fishtank thread on /bant/ looks like right now. It's nothing but this.

Bearing in mind Brian said the best date he ever had was going to a weed festival with CK, and his whole shtick on Fishtank was that he had wasted his whole life staying at home smoking weed.

Probably pretty likely this is the exact same thing he was getting up to prior to Fishtank lol, no wonder he was so mopey

Sam definitely worked out during FH.

Sam was definitely less aggressive all season, he did some of his shtick with Mizzy on the RV trip though.

During FH, Jet was very rare. There were whole days I didn't see him at all. Ben was on camera every day but he was doing the director character which ruled so it's OK.

They did stick to some of these, some they didn't, and some of the ones they didn't stick to it ended up being good (Ben for example). At the end of the day, this is a rough outline cobbled together by wiggers before the show even starts. Once the show actually starts, you have to be reactive and sticking to the list by the letter may not have been good, at least for some of these. I'm not going to fault them too much, I already fault them a lot for other things like the disaster that was FH2.0 and the RV trip.

Ive used all the platforms(not reddit) and agree on all points, twitter has some really good stuff, good for moment by moment updates and they make some of the best edits, but also the worst orbiters by far. The kind of people that fill up the twitter spaces that members of the fishtank extended universe host from time to time, and want nothing more than to be 5 degrees of separation from Sam and Jet. And as twitter is the one place where people can actually interact with the fish, you get very parasocial people like cryokeen, some of them even act like they are "in" with the MDE crew just from being around them on twitter. Rocky streams is one who comes to mind, got bullied off the internet for being such an annoying cunt.
I joined a space randomly since CK was in it and it had like 6 people in it, and im 90% sure it was hosted by the fishtank discord guy who is having a reunion thing next month with several former fish/freeloaders, and in it he bragged to some other orbiter girl in it that he was in "talks" with Alex B's people to join his management team like this was a huge accomplishment in a retarded way to garner favor with this girl, and then the girl revealed her mother had paid a crisis councilor to come talk to her earlier that day because she had stopped eating AGAIN. Join any twitter space with Jimmy, Jon or even dumbgay and you get 20 people like this every time.

You're forgetting the Discords, and there's an official FT Discord too. I've heard those can be a mixed bag. Sometimes there's good discussion and the coomer brainrot isn't as bad as 4chan, but there are FT egirl stans there.

Also Xavier has an account on I've heard he posts updates, but he's been quiet for quite some time.

Ben was great this season.
I love that he leaned into the bengay stuff as the director character.
Like the moments where he was basically skipping around the house, it was really funny.

As for the discussion re communities - here's the best (and im thankful we got the chat although theres no reason to use it when nothings going on)

Twitter is good, there's lot of good people on there but yeah it's correct that all the spaces stuff is completely gay. It's basically just discord really, except twitter version. So it's just as cancerous as discord.

But there are a lot of good FT poasters, so for me like I just follow people who are good and unfollow people who suck or are weird. And you sort of curate your own community with it.

I thought like most things in season 2 angry Ben started off really good then became grating by the end of the season. Like it was less a bit like gay Ben and more real life actual anger which was not fun, the part where they just completely gave up and started smashing walls while Jet watched YouTube didn’t feel like they were doing a bit,

Law of diminishing content returns. The more a bit or piece of content is repeated the less entertaining it becomes. Unless something new is added it gets old. Sometimes though a bit can be so drawn out and absent of any type of creativity or worth that it circles back around to being content, but that’s more of an advanced lesson. Currently pursuing my doctorate in Philosophy of Fishtank so you can trust what I say.
