Compare how much nitrous you would receive for anesthesia to the equivalent amount of whippits you'd need to use. Extremely heavy use like Steve-O used to be on (pallets of canisters) is where you'd get into brain damage territory from the hypoxia but the worst case scenario from infrequent partying with nitrous would be a vitamin B-12 deficiency, which of course would be exacerbated by alcohol abuse. B-vitamin deficiency is the cause of "wet brain" for those who don't know.

TL;DR nitrous isn't particularly dangerous compared to anything else you could huff

It's misleading to present such studies as random or evidence of anything. I haven't read it but just the quotes show the parents also testing positive at a high rate so you can't tell me this is a voluntary study where a bunch of random cocaine-using adults all volunteered to be tested with their kids.

I'd assume the sample was mostly absolute fuckups like Nick who ended up with their homes filled with cocaine with their kids in them. And even 80% of them (supposedly) didn't test positive. So Nick, with 20% exactly of his kids testing positive, is at about the average range of absolute loser fuckup drug addicts.

Anyway those numbers are not only ridiculous and impossible, but they show the stupidity of adding things like .35% to the end of a number to make it look more credible when they're talking about something with multiple percentage point margins of error at best.

This has always been my pet theory. There are obvious signs of being high on nitrous, such as a low voice and slow speech. I assumed he bought shady research chemicals that just have random letters and numbers for names and have effects similar to common uppers. These usually don't show up on drug tests.
