Unsurprisingly, it’s an abundance of goonery. Don’t expect anything documented in this post to be SFW. Mea culpa.

Because they love baiting people into complaining about it so they can later complain that the user or the subreddit as a whole is transphobic to get them banned/taken down.

They are so addicted to censorship it's inhuman. In some cases they are more addicted to it than they are to porn.

It was the year 2005. The 12th of February. A Saturday. The store was busier than usual due to the crossroads of the upcoming holiday and the weekend. Sadie was doing her grocery shopping, but knew there was something she had to do before leaving the store…
As she turned down the greeting card aisle, Sadie found herself lost in a lake of Valentine’s Day cards, swimming alongside starcrossed lovers, newlyweds, and middle/upper class midwesterners trying to save their marriages; all separated from their “other halves” to engage in this ritual of finding a perfect card. Or any card really. For most of them it came easy. For Sadie, the task was monumental. Possibly even insurmountable. She had to find The One Card. The rarest, mythicalest, most elegantest card. The special and prized card in the “For Her” section, that wasn’t specifically addressed from a man. Thankfully, she was able to complete her charge before the ice cream in her cart completely melted. She never was good at organizing her grocery trips. More thankfully, no one looked her way as she searched the racks of cards, carefully reading each and every card, inspecting them to find one that was worthy of being placed upon the altar of her heart’s affection.
Speaking of, her heart was pounding. Sadie was experiencing an odd mixture of excitement, anticipation, fear, doubt, but mostly… relief. As she pushed her cart to the cash register, she bobbed her head to the store music. A slight smile involuntarily grew on her face. “You just got your girlfriend a Valentine’s Day card, Sadie! Go you!” she thought to herself. She wanted to flap her hands and squeal and jump for joy, but her mission was not yet complete.
As she was loading her groceries onto the conveyor belt from her cart, she exchanged pleasantries with the cashier. That is, until she was interrupted. “Excuse me, but may I please see your ID?” the cashier asked.
Sadie’s heart stopped. What could have possibly caused the cashier to need ID? As she looked down to avoid the impatient gaze of the cashier, she saw the wine coolers she had picked up on Aisle 5. “Sure,” Sadie mumbled. “Of course.” She began to fumble with the clips on her purse to get her wallet out and slowly, fearfully produced her driver’s license. The one with the goddess-awful photo from eons ago. From the before time. The plastic rectangle was handed off. Words were exchanged. Unkind and unyielding on one end. Pleading on the other. The rectangle of shame was returned. The woman left the store empty-handed followed by a thousand silent stares, her head, and pride, brought low.
On the way home, she sang along with Pink Floyd’s “What Do You Want From Me?” played from her Zune through the lackluster car stereo on repeat.

Sadie hated the sound of her voice, especially when she was crying. But she sang anyways, because the expenditure of energy helped her focus on something other than the pain.

Hi guys! I'm Raph (23 FTM) going to Japan in September, but really worrying about it! I went to Japan in 2015 (pre transition) with my family, I was just a GNC child and surprisingly tended to pass more then we did at home, but still had to use female restroom. Now I pass most of the time, have facial and body hair, already had top surgery and I'm a couple years into T, but haven't gotten bottom surgery yet (not planning on doing it anytime soon either). I have already talked to my doctor and we've already decided I'm going to take gel T while I'm there, that I'm taking with me, not worried about that.

I'm posting here because I don't want to deal with any transphobia that might come from posting in a japan specific reddit.

I do wear a skirt from time to time. Should I avoid doing that there? I'm not worried about weird looks, I'm a foreigner and I have neon orange hair, I'm already expecting that. I'm worried about having people confronting me for being a man in a skirt in the male bathroom (I do not think going to the female bathroom is an option either) and physical violence (not only when wearing skirts, but in general since I pass most kf the time, but not always). Anyone had any bad experiences with that there?

My documents say I'm male, anyone had any troubles with that being contested?

Should I tell the people I meet? Or is it safer to keep it a secret? I don't talk about it all the time with people I just met, but I don't mind talking about it if it comes in conversation.

I'm planning on staying at a mixed dormitory, but might end up in a male only dorm, could that be a problem?

While physical differences between men and women do play a role in a lot of things it bears remembering that even most male rapists do not use physical force on their victims the majority of the time. It's psychological and getting them under the influence, etc.
Letting the "little things slide" is why a lot of rape victims exist in the first place. Because they're used to letting transgressions go and think certain behaviors and situations are considered normal when they're leading up to something awful. And the psychological impact of SA is similar to both sexes, you don't feel any less abused because they didn't have as much muscle.

Context makes a difference, like the fear of potential consequences. Never a good situation, either way.

I'm sure we both fully agree that no young girlies are ever going to coerce Sophie Molly into bed. Quite the opposite, probably.

They're actually often the same thing, sadly. Which is why it's important to have very strong boundaries and get comfortable enforcing them. If you can't say no to little things there is not magic hell no moment that steps in when it becomes bigger things. People trick themselves into thinking it won't be like that but more often than not it actually is.
