As in, is he hoping that people run the command to see what happens, thus exposing themselves?

No, it's a hashing utility built in to your operating system. Nothing should leave your computer if you run it locally in terminal, or using certutil on a text file in cmd.

It's at least half a phishing attempt, don't worry about your identity so much. Based on past bait, anytime a lolcow thinks they have a user dead to rights, they can't help but brag about it publicly, then they try to contact people and are typically wrong. More than likely the Meta employee was collateral damage and not a user, because they'd have posted about it by now. But we've seen Keffals sperg about Winter and a few other users and it was always embarrassing when it turned out to be a big nothingburger. Don't search yourself.

Please do not ever, under any circumstances, type in that line with your user name and name filled in into any kind of online tool or search just for plain old sanity. Doesn't matter if it gets mailed off to him or vanishes into the void. Just don't.

It's not a trap, it's just an autistic nerd way to prove that he knew this dox before it gets publicly released. An online tool is extremely unlikely to send it off to him, but no reason to use anything online when you can just run it locally. (sha256sum comes with most Linux distros nowadays so you can just run it OOBE)

That being said, why does he care so much about being able to prove he knew and can take credit for it? Nobody cares if you have super leet doxing skills. He must really be a huge narcissist.

I think he's half learned his lesson from DropKiwiFarms and is hesitant to brag about something before verifying anything. I'm sure Kevin got fired, but there's been zero proof this guy ever used the site or said the nigger word ten times. He'll never acknowledge this hash drop if it turns out he has bad/incomplete info that he can't act on.

This feels like a canary trap. Like the previous post, I don't believe they've actually found a user, and they're expecting people to start freaking the fuck out and just renouncing the site, a la PsychicEspeon. But, even he was a very unique case because he was a Chris troll and got found out very quick for being one of Bella's dingleberries.
