Nintendo loves to take shit like this down. I'd archive it.The Starfox 64 port is out.
It requieres a ROM with the first revision to work and has to be in Z64 formate, so check your ROM before trying it.

Is this some 5D reference I don’t get, or do you really think this port was made because of Byuu?Is this because of Byu?
If it were that simple, they would have taken down the years-old Mario 64 ports, or OoT, or Majora’s Mask, or Link to the Past, or…Nintendo loves to take shit like this down I'd archive it.
I mean, they did take down a shit ton of emulators and roms this year, no? I wouldn't take the risk with them. Of course, they can't stop it, but they can make it annoying for you to find it later. If it were that simple, they would have taken down the years-old Mario 64 ports, or OoT, or Majora’s Mask, or Link to the Past, or…
Did they ever do this with the SNES entries? They actually need those improvements, SF64 holds up just fine. Still cool btw.Surprised it hasn't been brought up here
Star Fox 64 joins the slowly growing list of N64 games with pc ports
it looks really good so far, widescreen and improved framerate are a much enjoyed and needed new aspect and i'd imagine when it actually releases there will be more improvements and features
Aquas especially without lag looks incredibly good

I'm fairly confident the decompiled code itself (namely the githubs that only host them that these PC Ports are built off of) are more likely to be safe purely since it's just code that's largely useless without the assets or what else is needed to actually do something with it, sort of like how the OG Doom source code is completely free to use as long as you don't use any Doom 1 or Doom 2 assets in your wad and required to be used in conjunction with the original WADs like how most unofficial source ports operate.I mean, they did take down a shit ton of emulators and roms this year, no? I mean that’s not how it works. These ports are built off clean-room decompilations that require you to provide your own rom to dump assets. Nearly every decomp port of any game works like this; they literally cannot be DMCA’d. Case in point, when the SM64 port first released, Nintendo took down tons of compiled executables that came with rom assets but never touched the actual repo because they have no legal authority over it.Piracy crackdown has been ramping up significantly this year.
My guess is that the 1.1 ROM left the debug mode open, making a decompilation effort more easier, most decompilation projects start with a ROM that has the debug mode enabled. Is this because of Byu?
The port has all the contents of the ROM so it should be there, but i don't know how to enter cheats on this port, but sooner than later some autist will add it back in in the form of a mod, the other N64 decompilation projects have developed mod scenes of their own so in a few months we should see a bunch of mods for this port.Is the Turret mode in this version and if so how do you access it?

The question is then what mods are we going to see first? Mods that restore content or mods that add gay furry shit? The port has all the contents of the ROM so it should be there, but i don't know how to enter cheats on this port, but sooner than later some autist will add it back in in the form of a mod, the other N64 decompilation projects have developed mod scenes of their own so in a few months we should see a bunch of mods for this port.
Mods that restore all the gay furry shit as per the devs' original visionThe question is then what mods are we going to see first? Mods that restore content or mods that add gay furry shit?
There are still quite a few bugs. I expect they wanted to get the first release out before Christmas, and the next release will be a bunch of fixes.I tried accessing the Hard route in Star Fox 64 and no enemies spawned in. It also crashes if you try the training mode. That's disappointing but I expect it shouldn't take long to fix.
Edit: I'm having this issue whenever I get to level 2 on any path where no enemies are spawning in. Anyone else?
I get that. It's to be expected but for the game to bug out like that in level fucking 2 is kind of pathetic. It's the ultimate prick-tease: here is the definitive version of the one of the best space shooter games ever made... But you can't progress past the first level. There are still quite a few bugs. It worked fine for me, and I didn’t hear about it with anyone else. This may be a problem with your setup.I tried accessing the Hard route in Star Fox 64 and no enemies spawned in. It also crashes if you try the training mode. That's disappointing but I expect it shouldn't take long to fix.

This is not true. Companies can go after code such as this for quote unquote "enabling" someone else to engage in an infringement. They just usually do not bother.I'm fairly confident the decompiled code itself (namely the githubs that only host them that these PC Ports are built off of) are more likely to be safe purely since it's just code that's largely useless without the assets or what else is needed to actually do something with it
