I had that thought too. It's entirely possible. But the standing there with the pistol in his hand is making me second doubt it. I dunno, the guy is dead so i doubt we will know exactly what his reasoning for going to Nick's house was. I guess we will we get bits of info in the coming days but unless he left some manifesto or something it's unlikely we will know why we was there for certain. One thing that came to mind though was his clothing, it did seem pretty on brand for a groyper type.. but i mean, that doesn't really mean all that much.

I don't really care about legality, I care about justifiablility, you should be able to forcefully chase off unwelcomed troublemakers, even if unwise. It's not like he blew her head off, the dumbest thing he did was take her phone, there's no halfway decent reason to do that I can think of.
