Not saying your wrong, we are all just making guesses here until real info comes out. But I don't think this is the case. Nick isn't infamous. Outside of this very spergy part of the political internet no one really knows who he is. If the shooter was doing it to get fame he could have gone after another CEO or some other normie known person.

My wild guess is this is a burned ex-groyper. Someone who fucked up his life and family relationships by spouting AF garbage. And after the "movement" turned out to be bullshit he became so disillusioned he focused his anger on the cult's leader Nick.

The dude killed his whole family. Broke in to a house and killed dogs. But for some reason respected/feared Nick enough to ring his doorbell and wait like a little child at the doorstep? And he drove hours to get there and out of the million doors in Chicago he ended up at this one?
