As someone who has braved an age gap that size, 13 years is probably the maximum gap where you're both mutually attractive to each other, still in a conceivable dating range (so neither feels totally grossed out) and focus on the sex and the incredible potential for more and better sex there. A May/August type romance, no one is robbing the cradle or the grave. I have friends who are a generation older and a generation younger than me, and the older people want to talk about shows from the 90s I didn't see and the younger people want to watch child abuse and sharty memes on youtube. They reach different parts of me I guess.

So yeah, it's not so hard to conceptualize, Nick is not considerably more or less youthful than April or Aaron, so the attraction is intelligible, and their relationship was about coke and the extraordinary pleasures of an extramarital affair. April and Nick were the 'get' and Aaron and Kayla were the 'reachers' in the respective relationships. Aaron is extremely unattractive, even and especially compared to Nick, any pussy near Aaron will always be eyeing ANY exit, since he is pathetically ugly and untalented even for small market Internet radio.

What would the two of them have to talk about given their different experiences? I'm about April's age, I grew up watching 80s movies and TV. Culture has radically flattened, we now have on-demand access to TV and movies from any decade. Aside from Nick knowing more foundational and historic television, the two could very easily have close to identical tastes in media and have lots to talk about and many things in common. Hearing a younger person's perspective is interesting (though often not so very exciting), and hearing an older person's adult memories of times when you were a child or unplugged from what the fuck was happening in the world is interesting also. I doubt either have many interesting stories, they are just goofy, undersexed provincial fuckups. They probably don't have many cool talks since they're such dreadfully dull and uncool nerdy types. I mean Nick is a 'straight' theater kid through and through, dude knows nothing and has done nothing of interest in his life, though he has amused himself quite well.

I believe their affair was to prove to themselves they were more attractive and could pull a charismatic and interesting person, and also, presumably just for the joy of fucking, and also, they were on coke, which is both fun and arousing.

I disagree with this in theory. Aaron comes across much more grounded than Nick, much more. It’s not difficult to see why Kayla, sick of Nicks flights of fancy & total bullshit all the time, went for a guy like Aaron. Nick is very manipulative, Aaron is more of an upfront person. I don’t think any of them are particularly attractive, none of the Qover four, but, I can see why each person was drawn to each person (or persons) they were involved with. Let’s not forget that Aaron was particularly attractive to Nick, & still is the object of his obsession.

You can’t really put a marker on why someone finds something or someone appealing. Some things just defy logic & reason. And good taste. Across the board, any of the Qover could be called extremely unattractive, & to be fair, vice versa. I guess my point is that I think Nick is the most unattractive of the guys. It’s subjective, & depends on the eyes of the beholder.
