It's like going to a footie game and expecting to get attention for your awesome face paint.
Even outside of a furry con where everyone wears those, I've never thought that a fursuit/mascot suit actually looks appealing. They look bulky with their rug fur look, make people look overproportioned and fat (they intentionally design that often too), and that's with the best of fursuits. I think cosplaying in itself is far cooler and I've cosplayed a few times before at some events.
Please read or re-read the thread if you're under the impression that furries are above hypocrisy.
I agree with the furfag giving you the optimistic rating. Why would you think someone with a vested interest in their group's perception would earnestly engage with a thread detailing its worst degeneracy?
Because it makes them feel like "one of the good ones".
All fandoms and communities have bad people in them. If every single furry documented in this subforum was a bad person they would still be an extremely tiny minority of the fandom.
If you think this thread (or even this site) is meant to offer a charitable or balanced perspective on the state of the furry fandom you're mistaken. Are sweeping generalizations fallacious? Sure. But we're here to mock furries, not fellate them. If you want a thread highlighting furry accomplishment or excellence so bad, go make one. The majority of drama coming from ANW will most likely be of furries attempting to throw room parties and having them shut down, like Furcation, and maybe some complaints about being told that they can't wear kink-gear in the lobby.
Furry was literally built on all the weirdo fetish subsects coming together under one umbrella of "no shaming". Early furry web 1.0 was chock full of people's pages with normal furry links, and then ones to zoophile pages. It was all intermingled together.
Yes i agree, there absolutely are some exceptionally vile individuals in the furry fandom and its largely a problem of its own making.
And then happily grooming children into perpetuating the degeneracy though what started as seemingly benign roleplay and fan art of their favorite disney animal characters. Fags need not try to free candy van them, just dig them deeper into degenerate IRC channels.
Sounds like a normal day on the internet to me. Dislike someone? Disagree with someone? Accuse them of being any number of awful things with zero evidence. Same goes for rival events now too I guess.
ANW is despised by hardcore furfags for being 'too clean' and run by a guy who's.... gasp a Christian. Unless they booted him by now.
