Plant sexual reproduction is completely different from animal sexual reproduction, any comparisons are pointless without understanding the basic plant reproduction cycle.

The diploid generation (sporophytes) reproduces asexually. It either produces spores (which later grow into gametophytes), or grows the gametophytes inside their body.

Two extremes of this system are mosses and flowering plants.
