Look at these 2 tweets side by side. Barely 1 year between them.

To most people, seeing them together would make that person feel shamed beyond belief, and seriously question themselves ("Wait, why was I thinking in such absolute terms back then? What led me to a 180 degree change in moral values? Did  I change? Was I mislead or lied to by people I blindly trust? What happened?")

To Patrick, being shown these tweets is just another prisoning in the making. That's it.

Pat's brain only sees they were posted by protestors. That is all the info it needs, and it won't give a damn sufficient to start a single neuron synapse if that means he was wrong.

This is how we know Patrick is neither a conservative, or a liberal. That he is not for or against trans or reproductive rights. That he is not a baseball lover, a huge Brewers fan... nor hater, for that matter.

Patrick believes in  nothing. He likes nothing. He feels nothing... except one thing: the need for the dopamine hit from approval, admiration. The mere sensation of being right.

Seeing as Chichton hated the gays I can't imagine somebody like Patrick could exist within his works on a fundamental level. He'd be worse than Dino chew; he'd be a nothing.

If there’s no royal we, Patrick avoids attributing action to himself. “Took advantage” “blamed no one” I dunno why it bugs me but it does, probably because it’s so weasely. While he’ll avoid ownership of his words and actions as a lesser man, he directly attributes stalking to whichever anon account is in front of him. It makes him look dishonest, even at a glance. The fact that Rick has to use Nikki to qualify as a "family" to sound sympathetic but at the same time can't even coach her well enough for her to explain their plights on her own is hilarious to me.

I used to do a job that involved investigating fuck-ups in a large organisation and deciding who needed to be fired. I learned a lot about liars in that job. The dead giveaway for the guilty party was always someone who used syntax that didn't require them to say "I" or "me". Most common was the use of the passive voice - they would day "the shipment was not scanned into the system" rather than "I did not scan the shipment into the system." It allows them to say what went wrong without taking responsibility - stupid shipment, not scanning itself into the system! A lot of lolcows do this, notably barely-sentient lard barnacle Polissa Campbell. Pat's variation on it is subtle, using more standard syntax but omitting himself by just deleting it. Though I think Pat's motivation is slightly different - rather than evade, he's unconsciously signalling that his word and thoughts basically define reality, by using grammatical constructions that merge the two. "Paid nobody" rather than "I paid nobody" moves it from a personal testimony to a statement of fact. That's Pat's mental world - if he says it, it must be so. It's a kind of magical thinking, that he can will reality into existence just by stating it over and over, and some day those pesky sTalker Childs will Enjoy Prison.

Why did we take so long to realise that Pat is a sociopath? For once he's not lying, he absolutely would do this if he was in charge. He would seize control and abolish all democratic checks and balances, imprison his political opponents on vague charges of treason or no charges at all, gerrymander the Supreme Court to be his rubber-stamp yes-men, seize the assets of his opponents and exile them - in other words, he would do everything Vladimir Putin did when he took charge of Russia. Similar patterns of behaviour can be found in every tin-pot dictator since Napoleon. Pat's only driving force his his own power and influence, and putting him in charge of anything would turn it into a horrifying dystopia.

So here's an interesting hypocrisy nugget from the SFF Twitter crowd. We know they vehemently hate J.K. Rowling for publicly saying that she doesn't think men can turn into women, even if they try super hard. J.K. Rowling supports gay rights and has never said anything anti-gay. But Frank Herbert, Orson Scott Card, and Michael Crichton were all publicly homophobic. So why aren't fat non-practicing writers like Pat calling for their heads? Has the blue wall of consistency crumbled?
