I'm not sure if it's total ignorance of American history or if "Idiocracy" somehow managed to be too subtle for the people parroting this to understand, but it's just funny considering the leftists love using "Nazi" as an insult.

I got done watching it hours ago. It's ironic when they can't back up how we're anything like the movie other than Trump existing when it feels more like a rip on leftists. Like consumerism and the people loves being ruled by mega corporations and don't know any basic function like watering crops.

because there's not much else he can do for now, especially if he needs their services. throwing them under the bus currently doesn't do anything, and he can clean house and go on a firing spree in january.

Eh, not really. Like a lot of leftover cold war ideas, they get overstated in their usefulness. They are not at all suitable for dealing with entrenched positions, infantry, and bunkers are right out.

The main issue with neutron bombs is that they have a hard limit of about 10 kilotons, due to how rapidly neutrons are absorbed by air, and most were actually designed for about 1 kiloton yield, usually artillery launched.

So you need a ton of them to saturate a large area effectively. Against massed tanks they might be effective, but even there doctrine called for mass bombings, as you need the tanks to be in the direct blast zone to hit them with enough radiation to penetrate armor.

Infantry can spread out more freely than vehicles and so neutron bombs would be generally less effective than cheaper conventional weapons, like cluster bombs. Especially as even a single layer of sandbags or a foot of concrete can sufficiently protect ground troops from the radiation burst. A simple ditch or foxholes would be enough to render the bombs largely ineffective.

The other issue is that to be effective against ground targets, you need to airburst them right above the ground or even at ground-level, due to the short range of the neutrons. This unfortunately means the blast force will destroy most buildings, and due to neutron activation anything made of metal can become radioactive, making the area largely unusable for a protracted time period and creating a lot of fallout.

Worse still, the humidity level can greatly effect the effective range of the neutrons emitted, as hydrogen in the air absorbs the neutrons. They're probably pointless to use in any humid environment, like over water, jungles, during rain or fog, and so on. At least compared to cluster bombs or other tactical nuclear devices.

Neutron bombs are really best used as anti-ICBM weapons, where they can burst in the upper atmosphere and the neutron burst can interfere directly with nuclear fuel in nearby warheads at a greater blast range than typical counter-missile systems. To my knowledge, the only neutron bombs that still exist are Russian/Soviet counter-missile systems (and whatever Israel has stockpiled).

I was just thinking about this again the other day, about how it all quickly went away. It's scary how people hardly even care when some of our politicians are turning into literal zombies. Our expectations have been lowered throughout the years so that now guys like Biden and McConnell can freeze up like this and it's only talked about for a little while.

He might as well be drooling on himself here. Incredible.
