It's old, but footage has been found of George Hackenschmidt actually wrestling. Prior to this allegedly no footage of him was known to exist.

Amazing. Just straight grappling. Gotta love it. Also George is widely credited for inventing, or at least popularizing, the bench press. Neat little factoid.

He was over as hell for a while, too. I get him wanting to take time off to be with his family, but it really did ruin his momentum

It's kinda funny how a guy like Sid Eudy could take time off at the drop of a hat and still be over with the fans but Tatanka couldn't. Both similar in some ways, though Eudy was obviously just a fucking specimen of a human.

I think part of it was the stupid heel turn for Tatanka and them having him lose his undefeated streak to Borga in a squash match and never get retribution too. Sid being Sid helped a lot, too

Yeah, Tatanka really only had the winning streak gimmick going for him. He sucked on the mic and wasn't much in the ring, either.

Sid was a presence in and out of the ring.

Here's something that gets me about Hogan's feud with Yokozuna
The description on this clip says it all:
For a guy who had difficulty slamming him, he could easily lift him off.
Hogan did a similar thing at King of The Ring after the first bodyslsm attempt. I say they should have done the kick out first then the bodyslam attempt so they can sell it like, Hogan used all his strength to bench press Yokozuna off after that devastating splash that it affected his back from slamming him or something. I heard rumors in one of those European house shows prior to July 4, Hogan did manage to bodyslam him before Luger did. Is that true?

Turning him heel was stupid considering how over he was and his gimmick was a gimme to keep as a face. Especially coming back from an injury from Yokozuna, he even had sympathy from the fans.
Luger should have turned back heel after WM X. The WWF lacked good heels going into 1995. There was Shawn, but he turned face after WM XI.

Luger had a good look but was so much better as a heel. His face turn was just so out of no where and not in a good way. Like when did he suddenly start caring about bodyslamming Yoko for the pride of America?

Was it out of nowhere? Like my memories are kinda murky but was it before or after the Lex Express tour?
It was before, it's what started the Lex Express. Yokozuna was doing a bodyslam challenge on some military ship on July 4th and bet no one could slam him. No one did it, then Lex showed up at the last second and did it. That turned him face out of nowhere

The crowd even cheered for Hogan of all people. Maybe Vince was really in a bind at that time.

Has anyone checked on Jim Cornette since the election results? Is he still with us? :story:

From a podcast point of view, this is the best thing that could have happened. He is going to go off big time.
