I've seen footage of the game before and I can't shake the impression that it appears to play like a single player MMO complete with the bar at the bottom of the screen full of moves.
I wouldn't be surprised if it started life as an MMO. I think Origins was more trying to make the CRPG format console-friendly, sort of like Kotor.
Inquisition is definitely an MMO turned into a single player game though.
Fun fact, if I remember correctly Dragon Age was supposed to be a Baldur's Gate follow-up very early in development.
I never liked dunkey, i always saw him as the moistcritikal of game reviewers.
Dunkey's fine when he's being goofy and screwing around, but anytime he tries to give a genuine critique of a game it's clear he has no idea what he's talking about. Even before his infamous TLoU2 review, I thought his RDR2 review was half-assed and too generalized.
Though he was right about the island chapter. That shit sucked ass.

Well, their stated reason is that people have a history of complaining that certain DLC, even larger ones, should have been part of the game (which is true in certain circumstances, such as Day-1 DLC that is on the damn disc) so they didn't want people to feel like the game they buy is incomplete. This was supposed to be part of their new "customer consideration" policy, such as no always online for a single player game, and no extra DRM.

I don't buy it either. To me it just seems like another attempt to try and get people to buy it because they knew it would be such a goddamn hard sell to the normie public.
Them removing day-1 DLC is one thing, that's on par with releasing on Steam and skipping Denuvo in terms of low-hanging anti-consumer practices they are happy to ditch to juice sales.

But not having _plans_ for DLC tells you that EA is done with the dev team. DLC is a gimme, it's what you task writers and other people who are done with their work on a production to keep content coming. It tells you that EA's moved them to the next project entirely or is going to wash their hands entirely (we can only hope). The IP is dead, it's not even viable to keep around a skeleton crew pumping out horse armor.

I need to step in to briefly defend women.
Okay.
But a lot of women really like their games because of the caliber of writing, art direction, gameplay, etc.
Uh huh.
Thane Krios was such a massive hit with female players probably because the writers on ME2 asked the female employees which male celebs they found hot.
And there you have it. Romance in RPGs was a mistake, both male and female. The "caliber of writing" takes a backseat to horny garbage which eventually leads to ruin.

I mean, Thane's still pretty well written...

I actually forgot you can romance him because who plays as Femshep?

they say write what you know, and what they know is small overpriced commiefornia apartment living with mixed ethnic roomates they hang out with out of necessity but they view this and the snide remarks they make to each other because theyre not actually friends as true unconventional friendship and a rare genuine connection despite most commiefornian urbanites living the same way because the tv told them toxic friendships are just tsundere or banter and that their flaws are just part of their copy and pasted uniqueness and its normal people with normal families who hate each other and are bland despite it being more stable relaxed friendly and sadly being rarer and rarer

It's all a copy of a copy at this point, that's why so many creative works coming out recently have the same eerily similar and completely unreal feel to them. Artists used to fundamentally base their work on their own experiences in life. Even if they were writing about a made-up fantasy world they would draw from their own experience and anchor the creativity around that (Tolkien being the ultimate example).

Now the "creators" are all these fundamentally broken socially isolated people who haven't stepped away from a screen since they were 12 years old. They don't base their creative works on life, because they have not actually experienced life; they base it on other creative works that they have consumed while sitting in front of a computer. And as the circle of "acceptable" creative works to consume gets smaller and smaller, and the artists with "normal" human experience get pushed out by the retard shut-ins, it will just get worse and worse.

I think your assessment of the situation is actually too optimistic. To have had toxic friendships they would actually have to have had friendships. These people don't have friendships, they have shallow online alliances that are shrugged off during the latest round of cancellations and replaced by new interchangeable Discord chat partners. They're not writing based on real friendships or relationships, they are writing based on their wank fantasies, which are themselves based on the yuri manga they've been jerking off to alone in their room. Like I said, a copy of a copy.

Is she supposed to be "neurodiverse" or just straight up retarded?
She is a complete caricature, may be even an unwillingly self-caricature of some sort. Such caricature I would see in bad fanfics or especially in memes shitting on braindead trannies. The writters clearly lacked a good amount of self-awerness, so you know some of them might have not been able to see the difference between "neurodiverse" and retarded.

The issue is what tends to propagate. Bioware's focus on romance has been a magnet for filth, just look at the fanbase at large and how concerned they are with sexing up NPCs moreso than anything else. Even if they care for the plot or the writing to some extent, it's always the brainless dipshit coomers that come in droves and that ends up shaping the future entries. Less freaks would have their eyes set on this series if it wasn't interactive porn for them, is what I'm trying to say. The franchise could've still gone to shit since the industry at large suffers from political pozzloads, but I'm nigh certain the sexual elements have at least accelerated the process.

I agree to some extent, but then Geralt gets the option to fuck several women throughout the Witcher games and they seemed to turn out alright. I think it's more who the romance is aimed at; e.g. Iron Bull being a big gay bear or Sera being a realistic portrayal of the modern lesbian an obnoxious short-sighted retard who is lesbian. And I guess Thane being the tormented uwu daddy character who looks like Mads Mikkelsen playing Abe Sapien.

Miyazaki was right: anime was a mistake

One thing I liked about the sorceresses in the Witcher was that it was noted that they could choose to use magic to fix their physical issues, and most of them chose to become hot. It was a relevant plot point for the handful that couldn't or wouldn't. They were very human in that manner, especially in contrast to the Witchers who were forced to undergo the trials.

Geralt sleeps around but it's very clear he's mostly used as a boytoy by most of the sorceresses who revel in their power and beauty (like any human would, lol). Damn even the worst Witcher 2/3 character has so much more depth and better writing than the main cast in this turd. They managed to make lesbomancy a plot point!

I'm going to make a very broad guess that between all platforms, in a year's time, DA:V will sell 2 million copies. This will be 1/3 of the number of copies for DA:I, 2/3 of the number of copies of DAO, and equivalent to DA II and ME:A. This will mean they won't even make back their development budget, let alone all ancillary and associated costs. As such, it will be a failure, and be the deathblow for Bioware.

Also, for anyone doing a chud playthrough, strongly consider a mage character, and if you like melee, consider the spellblade specialization. The warrior character, for me was a huge slog, regardless of specialization. I can't speak to the rogue character having not tried it. If you are good with the rogue's playstyle, you might like it. I just don't have the reflex speed for it.

Most older Bioware titles "turned out alright" as well. The issue is what comes after. CDProject Red have gone on a similar trajectory with CP2077 in terms of attracting more coomers from all corners.

With regards to romance ruining thing, I feel that it's letting you play as a female that is the crux of the problem when it comes to BioWare games. Geralt is male, so to an average shut-in, self-diagnosed autistic trans landwhale, romancing Yriss, Cirie, or Yennifer isn't the same as playing a sparkledust Dalish UwU waif or a Disney warrior princess to romance the usual suspects: Cullen, Solas, Alistair... god knows whom the woobie would be in this game. Those are the worst fandom/shippers in this game.

I don't agree with the idea that you shouldn't be allowed to play as a female PC, but this is a lot harder to argue against. Worth remembering Cullen only became one of the most important characters in Inquisition because of the players who went ga-ga for him in Origins, up to and including mods that made him a party member. Nothing in DA2 and definitely nothing in Origins, where his brain is completely broken and in some endings he can go off on rogue magehunting crusades, indicated that he had any business being the Inquisitor's pissboy, much less the Inquisition's general.

i think your assessment is mostly accurate but by "friendship" i meant like carlos and tyrone packed in the same shitty apartment helping pay rent and by "talk to" i mean when necessary and they just imagine it to be more wholesome and fulfilling than it actually is.
so you know some of them might have not been able to see the difference between "neurodiverse" and retarded.
alot of them are "neurodiverse" freaks to begin with so all the stuff they write for people who are supposed to be a bit outside the norm end up being unwieldly freak rapists

Honestly, The Witcher is 100% wish fulfillment for edge lords, who want to hunt monsters, and fuck BPD women. At least it was honest about what it wanted to be.

Veilguard skin walks an established franchise, and tries to make it as modern, and marketable as possible. EA doesn't give a shit about the trans shit, they just want to make money.

Yeah, I have nothing against female PCs, but pair them with BioWare's brand of romances and it's a magnet for an audience that would normally gravitate to visual novels.
