This is exactly what I mean. He's such a fucking wetbrain when he tries to come up with a story to explain his shit he makes himself sound worse because what he's basically saying with this excuse is that people were smoking so much crack around his kid that her hair tested positive at regular recreational user levels just from second hand crack smoke.
He comes up with these fucking copes and excuses in his head that he thinks are oh so clever, but because of the damage the alcohol, the cocaine, and the deliberate malnutrition, have done to him, he can't grasp the very obvious conclusions that his qover story will bring up in peoples heads.

Nick is at the stage of "burning it all down" or near enough to it, the problem for Nick is that he's overestimating our investment in Aaron, for most of us Aaron only exists because of his relationship with Nick and for no other reason. Dabbleverse alogging was certainly a thing before all of this started but it was a tiny community that no one was really paying attention to. I'd go as far as saying that Aaron's alogs are far more interesting candidates to continue watching (as cows) once this legal mess is over, especially Melton who is a creepy stalker paedophile.

Mutually assured destruction has the same result for everyone involved but it's not necessarily equal, what Nick is doing is like nuking a little Podunk village at the cost of his own city, and a little village is much easier to rebuild.
