A few years ago I did some work on checking to see what would happen if you just moved the earth a few thousand miles away or toward the sun and found that the earth cooled/ warmed up by 2-3 degrees globally. It really doesn't take much to fuck up the planet.

That's a range of between 83.7 and 102.2 million miles. A few thousand miles is well within range.

If you drastically change the AU a planet is from the sun you'll change it its temperature. Or do you think that if you move Mercury closer to where Venus is it'll still remain the same temperature? There's other things to take into consideration when figuring out the planets temps at that point, like Greenhouse gases. You'll want to increase or decrease the amount. Source doesn't mean much if you haven't done the math yourself. Try it sometime. It's a bit of work but worth it.
