Also if they actually managed to do that good luck collecting. Contrary to a corporation he would just go bankrupt and malpractice insurance also has caps as far as I know. At least that's how insurance works here.

Honestly, there is no way Joe comes out of this not looking scummy. And it will be very telling who on lawtube will cover for him.

I believe only a good lawyer can make good youtube videos about law, so there is possibility for some overlap.
But I agree insofar that lawyers who stop practicing the lawyer will eventually stop being good lawyers and their commentary and content quality will suffer accordingly.

There are a few with actual criminal defense experience who also take a lot of time to research cases and the people that are part of them and offer interesting and well thought out commentary that goes beyond just watching a stream and reacting to it.

Those "good lawyers" are obviously a tiny minority and no matter what people do, they should never hire a lawyer because they saw him on youtube talking about how "easy it is to get that dismissed".

FDCPA already had fee-shifting. The only thing this case answers is whether in New York District Court, you can treat having to pay attorney fees in an underlying action that gives rise to an FDCPA claim as damages in and of itself, and the answer appears to be yes.

Social media incentives and Lawtube in general operates as an anathema to the competent practice of law.

From the onset, you have a need to provide unconventional or "interesting" takes to garner attention, which generally causes people to act in a more partisan or extreme posture to differentiate yourself as a speaker. Being boring and right takes a back seat to being interesting and wrong. Inevitably, the people who succeed most in these spaces are people who parrot back the biases of their audience or what they want to hear more than actual commentary or analysis.

In LawTube specifically creates a breeding ground for bad information. The format of providing off-the-cuff commentary leads to commentator taking a shoot-from-the-hip approach or live reactions without prior review. Actual practicing lawyers spend several hours, if not days, considering legal issues and filings before providing an analysis to a client or writing their own response. The reason for this is pretty obvious: law is complicated and easy to get wrong, even if you're legally educated.

Unless you're the DUI Guy and litigated thousands of basically the same case (and ONLY limiting your commentary to the type of case you actually know), it's likely that there's some nuance to an argument or fact that you cannot just conjure the right outcome from nothing. Not to mention there's a lot you can potentially fuck up just by being unfamiliar with the particular jurisdiction's rules of procedure.

That said, I didn’t watch the entire video (as it’s almost 5 hours long), but the little I watched made me surprised by Lead Attorney's charisma. He probably reflected on all of this for quite a while before coming public, and he seems to be handling it all very maturely. He discussed very serious topics in a quite relaxed manner, which isn’t naturally easy. And he talked about his experience of the whole process, which I found very interesting. The use of the soundboard and multiple interruptions to read superchats were the only things that made me want to stop listening, though.

He doesn't confirm as far as I've watched, but from what he mentioned about the diagnostic and treatment process (use of steroids, autologous bone marrow transplant), it seems to be some type of Lymphoma with a initial bone marrow invasion at diagnosis. Undergoing an autologous bone marrow transplant isn't easy (nor cheap); he described the process very well (@ ~2h40min: The doctors’ CRAZY plan to save my life).

When doctors give a 5-year expectancy, it is based on past data statistics; there will always be deviations from the norm, and as time goes on, treatments advance, and the prognosis changes. So I hope he remains resilient without losing sight of reality. And I pray for the best for him!

I went into it expecting some kind of click bait. "Hey guys I had a tiny skin cancer removed. CRAZY - RIGHT?"
Besides a handful of clips here and there, I haven't watched him much, just this stream and his Rekieta arrest stream, but while they are both quite long, I enjoyed his presentations. I definitely hope for the best for him.

He is a good talker but his content is too nigga centric for me and he abuses the siren sound effect way too much.

Now as for joe, here's my suggestion: buy mindsets debt and chase him down online to get him to pay. Content (which means shekels) plus shekels towards paying your fine if you manage to get him to pay. :story:

Fortunate for Andrew that debt is (probably) not valid anymore (I think it was before 2019 iirc). The statue of limitations for unsecured debt (aka credit cards) in FL is 5 years. If someone would try to collect on that debt and it is contested, it will be dismissed.

If you can dodge process long enough, your in the clear. It would be funny for Joe to seek out Andrew's debt though, could probably get it for half a cent on the dollar, or even less. Joe may violate the FDCPA again leading to a very hilarious lawltuber v lawltuber battle.

I am impressed that Sean is standing up to the bullies in Lawtube and does not back down from covering topics that will surely get him in hot waters with the people he used to appear on panels with. He used to be so shy and meek, easily talked over by the likes of Nick and Joe.

But if lawtubers become lolcows they deserve to be covered.
