About 20 years ago there was this movie that was on television every once and a while. It was about kids, I think it was a brother and sister, who were abducted by time travelers who were fighting in a war. The time machines were like big spacial cauldron and they'd looked like they were made of cast iron. They could fit about 3 people and had a hatch a the top to exit and enter. I remember this scene from the movie where the kids show up in the future and the almost get ran over by a silent car. One of the characters then explains that it's an electric car and that's why they couldn't hear it because it didn't have an engine and they must be in the future. The war was about people not wanting to have their future erased, because if it were erased then they would never be born. It might have been that the kids were British. I don't really remember. I think it was on PBS.

I tried looking for it, but I suck at searching for things like this. The details I type in never match to what I want.

Edit: This was a live action movie.

Sorry. It was a live action movie. And I'm like 100% sure it was not a TV Show and was a Movie. It was like 2 hours and ever time it was on it was the same so it must have been a movie.

Okay are their any other specific details you can give about the movie? Not gonna guarantee results here but I literally have nothing better to do.

Let's see...
  • Scene with the electric car almost running the kids over
  • At some point the kids have to steal one of the time machines and there were 3 lights in side that sort of looked like a traffic light
  • There were two sides to the war: The kids were only fighting because they were kidnapped and the other side was fighting because the wanted to stay born; this was explain by the character that rescues the kids.
  • The people flying the steal or cast iron cauldrons with hatch at the top
  • It was definitely not the Explorers 1985 (that is a different movie)
  • The people in the war with the cast iron cauldron time machines were wearing grey uniforms.
  • The electric car scene happens on a street in this big grey city that looked deserted. (The city was not a major part of the plot.)
  • It was a live action movie.

I remember that it looked like a black and grey steal cauldron. The hatch at the top in how the characters would get in. That's the only door on the time machine from the movie. In side there were 3 coloured buttons and a plasma disk for controls. (Clearly the point of showing this was to make the controls look futuristic and incomprehensible.) The rest of the interior I don't remember if it was show. From what I remember I don't think it was big enough to stand up inside of. Anyone inside would have to be sitting down for them to fit and allowing the hatch to close.

The thing for Nausicaä looks close, but the one I remember from the movie didn't have any complicated designs on it and just looked like it was made of steal. I know the movie I'm thinking of isn't Nausicaä because I remember that it was a live action movie. Thanks though.
