The majority of Dave's transformation can be seen in Mark Schierbecker.
That people accept this gender pretender's ruse is really damning of them. Once there's no social capital in being stunning and brave, there are still going to be people afflicted with gender dysphoria that can't just hop off of the fad.

Decent non-drama-lama writer. I hope he Schierbecker is not falling for a faddish explanation as to why he doesn't quite fit in with everyone else. Part of me wonders if he might be doing it as part of a reporter's experiment, similar to how some reporters will go under cover homeless, or might choose to live as an atheist for a year.

Even Chris makes the attempt to look like a woman, he lives in an overwhelmingly conservative area, and does it without 'mones. Why can't this guy do the same? Billy Tipton didn't need any hormones to live as a man, and that was in the thirties.

Shit, I know it's difficult to transition, there's gonna be a lot of opposition, it sucks, there's enemies every step of the way... But there's something really fishy about this. Don't certain countries require that you live as a woman for a while before requesting hormones? HRT isn't the first step, why does it have to be for him?
 
I think he makes less per month than Nora "Randi sicced a hate group on me" Reed.
