Then continued to give them "Credit" in games to build their credibility despite the fact that, not just by law, but by Professional Ethical Competence could not execute the duties "assigned to them in the credits" thus creating a CV under false pretense. So, this would be considered Professional Misrepresentation on the part of those including this on their resumes and fraud. It's also perjury. Not to mention "Stolen Valor" for the dozens of uncredited Entry Level Developers, Interns, and Independent Contractors that never got their names in the credits for contributions for the properties. You can't blame the kids for the stolen valor as that onus would be on the parent who started putting their names in the Credits. However, after age 18 - it's would probably serve them to issue corrections to Moby Games, Wikipedia, and IMDB under "Family Attribution/Support" and not whateverthefuck I just read was.

I guess that would mean their daddy, Joeyray Hall, basically set them up with these "Credits" despite them being diaper-babies that shit themselves. Fraud is just in the family and they wallow in shit.

Part of me wonders if Thor's "Anyone can get into game development even if they make garbage code" grift is mostly because of his own incompetence rather than any sense of encouragement. As if the gaming industry already doesn't have a problem with frauds and "imposter syndrome".

It is obviously easy crowd to entertain They don't know better and rarely produce anything even closing to quality. Just look at amount of rpg maker games and engine tutorial copy pastes... People are desperate for validation and to get in on all that. Thinking they might make something, just like this guys...

This is deeply unserious but there's going to be no better opportunity than this thread to get it off my chest:

Jason made a video on being frugal with food, filled with different tips:
  • Cook for yourself instead of getting fast food
  • Use as much basic ingredients as possible instead of kits and pre-prepped ingredients
  • Buy in bulk
  • Use a deep freezer, they're cheap and efficient
  • Don't let food go bad
  • Meat is almost always the most expensive component in a meal
And that's all true and good advice, if a little non-specific.
But I've carried a certain frustration in my heart since the release of this video because the most detailed part, the only one that even mentions prices, fails the smell test so hard that I can't get it out of my head:



There's no way on god's green earth you're getting a quarter, or even full cow for $2-3/lb. Even in the land of steers (among other things), I see $5.50/lb hanging weight at best. Even if somehow this is true and the guy lives next to the most generous beef farmer in the US, this advice is nowhere near generally applicable for most people. A quarter/half cow is certainly a great option if you've got decent money and want high-quality beef for better prices, but saying it's a great way to get your protein for poverty food is a meme that makes me irrationally upset.

This one very incorrect take buried in a firehose of hyper-basic but true advice feels like a food-flavored microcosm of most people's issue with his channel: he's trying to sound like a sage by augmenting his own middling knowledge with basic internet tips you'd find on Reddit- nothing wrong with that in a vacuum, but don't try speaking from a place of authority or you'll look retarded.

You could say he's not trying to sound like a sage on cooking, but at 1:50 in the full video he mentions plans to start streaming meal prep, including cost breakdowns, so he at least thinks highly enough of his cooking skills to want to teach others. I'll wait until I see one of these cooking streams to say for sure, but as it stands it sounds like the blind leading the blind.

As silly as it is, this one misinformed take on one of my special interests is where my opinion of him went from vaguely positive to negative. If I'm wrong here, someone please correct me.

Keep an eye on the sales sheet of your local supermarkets for proteins, because every couple months or so you can score some great prices like $3/lb beef top round and ground and $1/lb pork butt or chicken legs/thighs/drumsticks. Stock up on that in your freezer. If your store has a reduced rack for produce, take advantage of it and meal prep with it that day or preserve it with something like quick-pickling. Stews and similar slow cooks bring the best out of cheap cuts and work very well with beans and rice which stretches the more expensive meal components even further. You can also get good prices on shelf-stable foods/ingredients at many discount stores which aren't necessarily grocery stores. Getting old products off the shelf is one of the strongest factors in getting low prices.

His food advice reeks of someone who doesn't actually know how to buy food cheap and just knows some truisms that he thinks can make him more relatable to randoms on the internet.

Real poverty food homies know about rice, grains, and potatoes as household staples. Everything gets bought on sale, even better if it's end of the day 50% off sale item is on its best by date. Stock up whenever possible, on whatever is cheap enough. Fruits and veggies are often more expensive then the meat thats on sale, and you have to make sure to not let them go bad, so you can't bulk buy them unless that's all your eating for the next two days.

As for buying half or a quarter a cow, that's an expensive luxury for people who want meat they know the source of or higher grade meat. All the small slaughter houses and abbitiors I know of shut down, butchers are all some bullshit artisan thing now for people who can afford to spend more on meat. Cheaper cuts on sale are always cheaper, and you'll never find a quarter beef for $1.78-$2.66 in 2024.

It’s one thing to disagree with the methods but agree with the ends. It’s another entirely to come off so assmad about someone else who wants to genuinely do something to better an industry. Jason is so vehemently opposed to speaking with Ross for no legitimate reason whatsoever, and any time someone brings it up he acts like Ross came out on stream and murdered his cat. The worst bit about the initiative is the vagueness of it, and Ross has made it abundantly obvious he’s happy to clear anything that couldn’t have been put into the limited word count the Initiative requires up, and any time he or anyone else points that out to Thor the faggot dismisses it. He acts like he’s some consumer advocate who cares about our rights but the moment he’s challenged on it at all he folds like a wet napkin and shills for his industry. What a nigger
