Speaking from experience, this kind of messy writing can save your ass if someone tries to forge your signature.

It indicates that it is a complete affidavit, and no pages are missing. It's not just a Minnesota thing. Note that the various affidavits were notarized in various states. Sean's has an Ohio notary stamp, for example.

You also often see it in police reports ("Nothing Follows").

That makes a lot of sense. The way legal documents are often handled makes them seem like they would be easy to fuck with so I suppose that provides some level of protection.

A somewhat amusing example of how loose some legal documents really are is when I bought a piece of land from a friend....
The document was basically "Person A gives all right of ownership over the property described in Exhibit A to Person B". (with a little extra legalease). All the signatures and notary stamp were all on that page.

Exhibit A is just a regular piece of paper with a legal description of the property. As far as I can tell, there was nothing preventing me from just swapping Exhibit A which described the empty plot of land with the legal description of his house instead before I filed it at the recorder's office, technically stealing his house.

I'm sure some states / areas do it a little better, but man it seems like dumb system.
