It's what is known as a "Barnes win." Barnes firmly believed Rittenhouse was not guilty and should be acquitted. And to make sure Barnes remained correct and successful, they had to fire him from the defense team. That kind of legal accumen is a win for them.
 
I seriously wonder what Nick would do if you made him the offer of getting his kids back, no conditions, no terms, BUT he, Kayla and April would instantly blow up to 300lbs and remain that way for the rest of their lives, and they would have to remain together.

I honestly don’t think he wants them back.

Having them visiting a few times a week is ideal for Nick. He gets to be fun dad two times a week, while the heavy load of eh… Driving them around a few times a week can be someone else’s problem.

And Nick gets to concentrate on coom and coke!

That's really how I feel about Aaron as a whole now.

He had his rounds after the arrest, and he told his version of these stories which of course always ensured he looked in the best light he could.

I don't know what else he could really do of groundbreaking appeal at this point.
