I was thinking back on what Ian is good at, and how he could have used it to grow.

And I think it comes to down to the fact that he is a pretty good analyst. He is able to spot things, patterns, errors, or things that don't make sense. He is good at building a narrative from it, and be entertaining.

What he is not good at is interacting with people or how to manage his own image. It's sad he now seems to view is greatest strengths with regrets. Whatever he is doing now, he is not good at.

Being in a long term relationship with a BPD willabsolutely crush every ounce of soul out of that person. I really cannot understate how monstrous those types are. A BPD over time will deliberately erode all sense of boundaries and self with their partner, the BPD will do everything to consume them. To the BPD their "favorite person" is their whole world, and they cannot stand the thought that their partner's world doesn't also revolve completely around them and nothing else. I have seen this play out in real time elsewhere, words cannot describe how fucking toxic it is. BPDs who are parents will sometimes get jealous of their own children if their spouse or partner pays more attention to their children then to the BPD. That is the level of toxic I am talking about.

Ian is genuinely a shell of the man he once was, and he's never going to be able to recover (if that's even possible for him) until she is out of the picture for good; and even then it will take years.

It’s a social media microblogging site that’s designed to get you angry and keep you on there as long as possible, it isn’t a major publication (although it isn’t like those care about journalistic integrity either).
