Praying for an animated reenactment of this proceeding
And Nick can do all the voices of the characters like he did for Phoenix Wright!

So do any of our doxperts have an idea how often Bob Rekieta is up in Minnesota these days?
Not long after the arrest he posted a bunch of photos and videos from what looked like a safari in Africa, but who knows when they were shot? The raccoons thing was near a lake, which sounds like Minnesota. It's all world-readable so not going to reproduce it here:

I am going to be autistic on this.

Weber starts pushing the 7 versions of what Nick motioned for in terms of custody in his previous motion. Sweep responds that the issues are that the grandparents don't know enough (by self-admission) about identifying drug use signs. There is a digression about then knowing what 'appropriate parenting' behaviour is, and Sweep refuses to be trapped. Then the 60 day issue comes up.
Incorrect. The screenshot I posted comes from closer to the end during redirect.

Transcript:

Both the paternal grandparents have stated that they do not believe that Mr. and Mrs. Rekieta use any type of substances, were not able to identify any warning signs or concerns that would make them feel like they were using substances.

This testimony is bugging me with regard to what Bob and Celeste knew.

I keep going back and forth on whether or not Bob and Celeste:
1.) Were aware of the the fact that something was up with Nick and Kayla, but were trying to quietly handle it
2.) Are genuinely so naive as to not know what drug addiction looks like and thought "Oh they were just tired"

In most situations, this would be a moot point, but if it *IS* the case that they knew something was up and were trying to deal with it without getting law enforcement involved, then this answer they gave CPS was an outright lie, and possibly given at Nick's behest. I can almost hear him now....

:really: Dad, these people are RETARDS and I'm being set up! You need to say you were unaware of any drugs in the house and I've never used ever, otherwise we'll never get the keeds back. You don't want to spend 11 hours a day driving them to field hockey, lute practice and water polo DO YOU???

Nick wants everyone to believe he has his kids and will bend every statement to make it appear he does. County is going to oppose it as long as they have a criminal drug case pending.
Correct.

Just like how "Rumble contract" slyly morphed into "Rumble agreement."

For once there was a brief glimpse of conscience and contrition in Kayla, when she tearfully hugged her eldest out in the hallway and said "these are the consequences of our actions." Will Nick ever acknowledge the same?
I got a better question:

Is this bitch actually sincere? Or was this just a fleeting pang of guilt?

Because as far as I can tell, not a goddamned thing has changed. They even brought April back into the house and were all seen together having a gay old time at the tattoo convention.

These are not the actions of people who even care about getting their children back, much less miss them.

I will say though, bravo to Kayla for making such a guilty statement in front of the social worker. Bravo! I'm sure Nick was thrilled.

:story:

Again Nick can't resist the chance to hear the sound of his own voice despite his own attorney sitting there who is supposed to do the talking, this time taking a simple question of whether the parents have "been cooperating with drug testing" as the time to belt out his own "objection...to the introduction of the drug test evidence" that wasn't even the call of the question, as if panicking at the thought of ever discussing the parents' own hair follicle tests on May 30th, for which they'd swiftly revoked consent to release results to any county officials, and which their later July 13th motion sought to suppress altogether for the sole reason that the GAL shouldn't have gotten her hands on the results. This time the different judge was having none of it and asked Nick's attorney whether she'd like to make an objection for him.
Objection, you honor! The drug test results are very damning for me, so I demand it not be discussed!

I don't think Rekieta has the humility for a plea deal.
I agree.

I might soften that stance if he were to settle with Monty, but right now there is still little to suggest he is ever capable of admitting when he is wrong.

Rate me late but what if the reason Nick's daughter tested positive is because Aaron being retarded used the crack pan to heat up the spaghettiOs after Nick left it on the stove

2.) Are genuinely so naive as to not know what drug addiction looks like and thought "Oh they were just tired"

3) Are Nick's enablers. That they were not trying to handle it at all. That they were fully aware of the situation at the house and the condition of their grandchildren. So aware of it that they took care of the kids in the spring so that Nick could go on a weeklong sex and drugs bender with his polycule.

It's going to be Fapcop's. I still believe in romance :heart-full:
Bless ya buddy!

A child would be exactly what April needs to stay on the straight and narrow.

(That and a healthy amount of Fapcock, obviously!)

Considering the quality of men she hangs out with, it’s not strange that she’s “infertile”. I’ll bet her ovaries would start ringing like church bells if she started being around men who aren’t failed lawyers/druggies and podcasters.

Btw… Are Nick’s parents… Retarded?

They don’t believe they do drugs?! Then what was an ounce of cocaine doing in their house?!

I’m GENUINELY curious about what Nick told him. I can just picture Nick whining like an edgy teenager: “I TOLD you daaad! I don’t KNOW how it got there! Must be Aaron’s! NOW STOP BOTHERING ME!!!”

And Bob Rekieta just nodding and going: “Ok, ok! If you say it isn’t yours, it isn’t yours… Did you do your taxes?”

Can’t believe this pack of losers somehow ended up being multimillionaires.

Good stuff.
Sean torpedoes Nick's recent lie about kids coming home. CPS doesn't have a plan of action to return the kids as Nick has yet to explain how the drugs got in his house or submit test results.
Kayla comments to kids about "This is the consequences of our actions." Used as admissible evidence to court.

Not sure if this is a joke or not, but...

That would still be child endangerment because there shouldn't be any illicit drugs in a home where children reside.

I feel like some people might not fully appreciate that fact.

There is *A* theory (not the theory, as Nick falsely suggested on Chrissie's show) that Nick or Kayla intentionally "dosed" their 9 year old.

Yet it need not be that extreme for this to be fucked up and a cause for concern by the state (or any decent person, really).

Similarly, if somebody was smoking a crack pipe around the kids, and they got secondhand exposure, that's a problem too. Which is why what he said in open court on May 28th, and repeated last month on Chrissie's show, is so fucking stupid. He would have done better to continue with the claim that the test is just wrong (though it's probably not).

EDIT: Missing word.

Not going to lie, this family court process seems like a Kafkaesque nightmare.

A court where you have no 5th amendment right against self incrimination and no presumption of innocence.
CPS is civil asset forfeiture of your children. It's a ridiculous process that is generally discusting and unfair. However, people like Nick are what that system is for, and sometimes kids do need to be removed from the crack house.

When I originally posted that I got weird party animal/potential swinger energy from Bob and Celeste (months before the arrests), I felt a bit bad for speculating. The more we find out about them, the more I think I wasn’t critical enough.

It is.

That said, you still have the right to take the Fifth, it can just be actually held against you.

It's one of those cases where I hate to defend CPS, which is full of lunatics and sociopaths, a fairly large number of absolutely burned-out former idealists who have completely lost their faith in humanity, and a few rare people who have maintained their sanity enough to try to do good.

I know some CPS type departments have strict time limits on how long you can do the front line stuff because people literally lose their minds at this job.

Don't feel bad. Celeste fucks.

But Nick deserves it, and it is necessary.

I can. His name was Lewis Owen, and by all accounts he was a good, decent, genuinely Christian man, who made very wise investments.

His progeny, on the other hand...

I don't believe they weren't aware of it. Quite apart from the state of the house, Nick's streams were full of evidence that he was at least abusing alcohol at an openly destructive level. I'm certain that anything the community knew or suspected would have been conveyed to both Kayla's parents and Nick's.

If they were hoping to handle things quietly, I suspect it would have been to protect their own standing rather than Nick's. This becoming public doesn't reflect well on them at all.

I don't think Nick pays enough for that. Drug dealers are not your mates.
Depends on the drugs really. Pot? LSD? You more or less have to pretend to be friends with the dude, and sometimes actually are.

Coke? Heroin? They're going to want you to get the fuck out as quickly as possible so they can move on to other customers to pay for their own habit.

Ketamine? That's a kind of interesting one, considering it's implicated in this very case. I can't imagine any dealer wanting someone lying outwardly catatonic on the floor in a k-hole. I'd think they'd want you to do that shit in your own house. It's not like there would be fun, sociable things going on.
I don't believe they weren't aware of it.
I don't either. Nick inherited the lying genes from somewhere, and let's just take a wild guess that he inherited his lying genes from his liar parents.

They seriously had no idea? Fuck you, you lying-ass Cuckieta scum who spawned this goddamn demon.

Yeah they can be.

In this case however, it’s just Nick being retarded.

He’s not charged with TAKING cocaine. He’s charged with possession.

As Sweep said, she regularly works around people’s criminal cases. But Nick as always thinks he’s smarter than anyone else, and somehow thinks that his brilliant (non practicing attorney) legal skills will result in the jury going: “Your honor, since we can’t prove that a burglar didn’t break into the house and put the cocaine there without the Rekieta’s knowing about it, we find the accused not guilty!”

And then the judge bangs the gavel and sentences Sweep to pay Nick a million dollars or something.

But Nick deserves it, and it is necessary.

I can see where the court is coming from, basically at first glance having the kids back in their own home with their grandparents to keep an eye on them while the parents get their shit sorted makes sense,

Then those points get made that the grandparents would cover and work against the court.

Same with that nick and kyala need to be further away then the house next door.

basically nick shoulda stopped streaming gone to rehab rent a house further away etc etc

Nick should have done a lot of things. Unfortunately for himself and for his children, the only thing he really seems to want to do is more cocaine.

In Family Court there's nothing criminal to incriminate yourself nor any act to be adjudicated guilty/innocence. There is no jail time or fines. No property is at stake.
