Here's a challenge for the resident AIheads: turn Hank's appearance and voice into those of Austin. I know this can be done.

 
What is he doing to stain his hands like that? He's not cleaning or doing work. I wonder if he lost his poker and is trying to use his thumbnail to clean his bowl.

It's from smoking crack. "Crack thumb" and "Crack nose" are common nigger slang and apt descriptions of symptoms of crack use. Burns and staining from aluminum, steel wool/chore boy, and sticky crack ash on the thumb/hand, and usually a red blister on the tip of the nose from lighter burns.
 
Fun fact about the crack hands:
Often when police are booking crackheads, they fail to get decent fingerprints off of them. The way they hold the hot glass while they get high tends to burn off their fingerprints over time.

I don’t do drugs because I’m gay but would glass cause the thumb and webbing to blacken like that? Most people I’ve seen smoke crack use random metallic pipes, like antennas from old cars, where the pack in their rock and Chore Boy. Or some type of foil. That stuff would definitely leave residue behind. I’ve seen folks smoke weed out of glass pipes (they are different, sure) but they’ve never had burns or blackened skin.

Apparently, according to this website that has an entire page to “safely” consuming crack, you can just as easily shove it up your ass. Maybe this is the Boss’ preferred method and he has a Mallory-Weiss tear which is leaving that lovely dark residue on his thumb and fingers behind.
