They really think urban planning explains everything about society, when it doesn't. Not even remotely close.
It’s a symptom of their narcissism. To them, urban planning is the most important job ever in the history of man and therefore urban planners (or wannabe urban planners) are the most important people to exist and are uniquely able to handle the task of saving the people from themselves.

There's a conflict to be resolved on r/fuckcars: Is posting about bikes fatphobic?

There are 200+ replies to the thread, and most of them are redditors proudly announcing they are, in fact, fat.

There is a fact checker on deck. It is a mystery how humanity could have ever cracked the code on exercise being healthy without heckin studies. Science is truly amazing.

Here are some people "weighing in" with their opinions. The consensus seems to be that bikes are not fatphobic. The problem is the misconception that losing weight is related to better health.

Fortunately, there is a centralized resource available for this marginalized group.

So if I take a car I'm automatically a fat...but being an urbanist means you're fit and healthy...unless you're already a hambeast...

I'm so confused!
Hilarious how they didn't even realise they are contradicting the talking point about cars being why Americans are fat. As it turns out your mode of transportation is not a huge factor in your weight.

Another strike against the theory that urban planning explains everything (it doesn't).

I'm astounded. They really are all in on every lefty pet issue aren't they?
Now I'm trying to imagine a 500+ lb woman on a fucking bike. And I'm trying to imagine why that would be anyone's girlfriend.

Bikes are cool as long as they're not used by entitled stinkpots who make life difficult for everyone else on the road. Fat people using bikes are cool too, that means they get some exercise for once.

That there would be any potential conflict between fat fetishism pride and anti-car urbanites amuses me greatly, I hope it really blows up.

I fully believe a redditor would date a 500lb woman, I don't believe for one second she ever rode a bike.

They may be hambeasts, but they're fit and healthy hambeasts due to riding their e-bikes (remember, all bikes are good bikes) at snails pace for a mile every day.
The gym of life, everyone.

And yet they try to ask why urbanism is not a bipartisan issue. While they randomly cram in every globalhomo idea into it no matter how unrelated.

You would think they have to finally admit that either A) the gym of life was a lie the whole time or B) that they were lying about riding a bike. But no they manage to lie again and go with C) "Health at every weight bigot. I exercise but I'm just naturally fat"

If they were trying to go all in on the environmentalism angle they really shouldn't be encouraging using a vehicle that requires toxic batteries at all.

The gym of life is just highly overrated. Yeah, walking and cycling are good for cardio health if done enough, but it's not like they'll burn a lot of calories. Just riding around at a chill aerobic pace for a bit every day isn't gonna outburn a shitty diet. If you think you deserve a pint of ice cream after your leisure bike ride, you made all those calories back because riding a bike is ridiculously efficient.
Aerobic exercise can burn fat directly, but at a low rate so you gotta do a for long periods of time.
"Gym of life" does nothing but keep you a bit healthier if your diet is also appropriate. And those bugmen living in bodega-country don't necessarily have gold diets.

The whole conflating of car culture with being fat is just a way for redditors to make their disdain for fat people acceptable. They can't come out and just say they dislike fat people, so they get disingenuous and conceal it with "I'm just worried for them, I'm just calling attention to nasty awful car culture and it's effects on people tee hee". They're like liberal white women just waiting for the acceptable excuse to call Clarence Thomas a nigger.

You'll notice they do something similar when the Indian Question comes up. They just happen to notice that it seems like men from the South Asian region just so happen to have a strong body odor, and they just so happen to be more prone to rubbing against you in the hallway at work. But they're not racist, no siree bob. Just making observations.

Only fat people brag about how many restaurants they have on their block.

Yeah, I have no clue how they square the circle in their head that "cars are bad because they contribute to obesity" but also "there's nothing wrong with obesity".

Imagine how hard it must be for her to dig the bike seat out of her ass after every ride. That shit is INSIDE her.
