I'm pretty sure people that worked on MGS V, if not Kojima himself, have come out and said Kingdom of the Flies was cut early on and thus never going to be in the game because Kojima thought it took away from the Venom reveal.

That's why it has such unfinished cutscenes compared to the cutscenes shown in trailers two years before release. The cutscenes for the game were probably one of the first things finished for Phantom Pain.

Mother Base sucks because Kojima didn't give a shit about anything except his big open map and his shitty phantom pain story. I think the only thing that came close to being "unfinished" was that you had more control over you FOBs layout for the meta game, and even then that might have just been the dipshit community manager talking out of his ass.

Chapter 3: Peace was always just meant to be the FOB meta game. That's why the final cutscene is total nuclear disarmament. Hence the "Peace" subtitle.

It really is fucking tiresome the constant moaning and whining that Chapter 3 was cut like it was going to somehow fix the 60 hours of Ambien leading up to it. It's always on the game was "unfinished" (with really no bugs in it, it's finished) and never on Kojima being a lazy hack.

It boggles my mind how Kojima fanboys seemingly have zero clue how game development works. They treat it as if everything is just made sequentially and they got to the end of Chapter 2 and were like "oops, Kojima got fired gotta stop."

The actual cut and "unfinished" content within MGS V has been catalogued. It's very sparse. We're talking assets for the removed guard dogs (which were said to be removed during playtesting), assets for Battle Gear as a vehicle/companion (said to be removed for balance issues), some audio that suggests Skullface was a boss you fought at one point, Skull Faces unfinished Mares Leg weapon (reload animations are broken), text referencing Miller and Ocelot outfits for D-Dog, the unused "Peace" title card and the only instance of "unfinished" missions is the raw code that references Kingdom of the Flies

MGS V could not be improved with more time without completely re doing it the same way they had to keep restarting Duke Nukem Forever. The missions in the game are the missions they designed for the game. The story is the story written for the game. The game you got is the game they were making.

Konami did Kojima the biggest favor in the world by shit canning him, because if this game had came out without the sympathy of his firing, it would have been destroyed by the gaming public and press.

He wanted 5+ year dev cycles for games that can't crack 10 million in sales. MGS2 exploded back then and regardless of sales, is still the highest profit Kojima gave the company since it didn't get shit out onto Xbox and PC immediately. MGSV's sales aren't impressive when you look at inflation and how other companies run circles around it. Like something like TLOU original sold twenty million.

i'm not completely absolving Kojima (the best solution was always a mix of HD games, AA game games, mobile/gacha games and etc) but he did create a scalable HD game engine for Konami. and who can blame him. Capcom's MT Framework served Capcom for 14 years until Monster Hunter World and still kinda seeing use to compile game collections. from the few tech demos, and presentation, the Fox engine is very capable engine. though i think they didnt show how to program on that thing, so UE4 ran circles over it with the blueprints.

but anyone with a brain saw it from a mile away that Konami is not interested in making HD games. Konami became more interested in low dev cost high returns like their bemani/ddr/popnmusic, PES, and their pachinko/gambling slots, his fate was sealed when gacha/mobile games blew up in 2014/2015.

This guy popped up for me and has seemingly been posting unused MGS2 content.

Don't know if new. I don't recall seeing these codec calls before but I've never done a deep dive into unused MGS2 content. I'd seen the stuff with the FAMAS they cut from the tanker chapter before but that's about it.

He does other games, and seems like he did some stuff on MGS3 a year or so ago.

How come nobody ever sells George Sears campaign signs?

I'd settle for a bumper sticker.

Using war as a business to end war as a business gets the glowies shutting it down. Increasing the Gross Military Product helps the Gross Domestic Product, which helps the powers at be.

In our timeline, George Sears was given his pro football career rather than letting him join the Navy.

That's Senator Armstrong.
George Sears was Solidus Snake.

For Metal Gear fans I can recommend UnMetal.

It plays well and it's pretty funny. It's more or less: "Snake" retells the game to "Colonel Campbell" who, depending on your actions in the game, stops "Snake" to inquire about the reason for punching toilets and other nonsense.
