So let me get this straight:

They apologized to Star Wars Theory (which ... Good), but then they decided to specifically call out other people from what I've been hearing?

I'm not going to watch the new video. I already wasted an hour of my life with the first one, lol. Why is RLM all of the sudden interested in getting into internet slap fights? Fuck this.

Why not just do a Nerd Crew episode that parodies these "rage bait" videos? Like ... Get creative and funny about it like you used to, guys.

He doesn't call out anyone else.
Question:

He doesn't call out anyone specifically ... But do they still "call out" the "rage bait" videos?

RLM seemed to change once they got involved with smiling friends.
The American voice acting industry is full of lolcows and cringelords. I guess they're getting a good start at fitting in.

I don't think they are bitter towards Lucas. They just see him for what he is: an egomaniac who is himself bitter over the fact that he isn't revered and held in high regard the way he once was. He also only cares about himself and not about the art.
Has George Lucas done something that warrants all the hatred he gets? The main sticking points were usually the enhanced editions of the original, but nowadays not only is it incredibly minor, but the idea that a creator would actually invest in a work post release is entirely foreign to the modern sate of disposable media. Besides that, there's the usual case of arguing how all his achievements were due to a strong independent woman who did everything in the background.

Ditto the arguments against the prequels of being atrocious, which was way overblown, and when Disney got a nerd and a professional to make their own films, both sucked several times worse.

On the other hand he created a media juggernaut and a gaming responsible for many classics. He might be an asshole but who gives a shit.

This is simply not going to fly so long as the theatrical cuts are unavailable by any means other than piracy. Lucas wouldn't even allow the theatrical version of Star Wars to be preserved in the Library of Congress. There are legitimate beefs with Lucas from a preservationist standpoint that go well beyond "Han shot first."

They did call out Chris Gore's Funeral For Star Wars video, where Jay really seemed to not like it. I don't care for Film Threat's Courtroom or their Funeral videos but I don't see how Gore and Ng are bad, even in the "anti-SJW" sphere.

Reminded me when he randomly didn't like Joker because Todd Phillips primarily made low effort raunchy comedies.

If you check his Twitter, he primarily talks about old movies or new transfers of old movies from Arrow Video and other genre media distributors. Chris Gore gets payed to do what it seems like what Jay wants to do:review movies, cover film festivals, cover home media releases, etc. It's not like he's particularly interested in making movies (which even Gore made that Attack of the Show doc). It comes off like sour grapes, "how dare he attack and mock what I agree is corporate slop devoid of artistic merit."

I love Gore, Ng, and Filmthreat.

The Funeral for Star Wars, and the "court case" before it, were funny ideas that turned out to be unfunny, tedious trainwrecks in practice. Jay is right. Nobody should be doing 7+ hour streams to mourn a franchise that's been dead and gay since the early 2000s. It smacks of perpetual "Fandom Menace" gritting, and that's not what Filmthreat is.

This will never be true no matter how young you were when you saw the prequels and no matter how many times you say it. They're shit films. They were shit at the time. They're shit now. They're just a different kind of shit than the Disney garbage, which is terrible for different reasons.

The scripts are awful and feel like first drafts. The acting is terrible, and that's impressive, because the cast is good. The designs are nice, and the soundtrack is godly, but that can't save drek. I won't pick on the terrible CGI except to say Lucas was an idiot to use so much of it. Like everything about the prequels, he seems to have learned nothing from the original trilogy.

"Oh, they look pretty good in comparison now, don't they?" No, they don't.

This would actually be hilarious. The thumbnail alone…

I second the idea that they’re tired though, because that BOTW felt extremely low-energy (giving Jack credit for trying though). So that probably wouldn’t happen, but they’d have a lot of material to play with.

RLM (specifically Mike) has been coasting on fumes and the crest of good will earned with the Phantom Menace review ever since Space Cop gave him the reality check that his shit indeed stinks; and that being Youtube Famous isn't a stepping stone to anything he would rather be doing. He retreated to his comfort zone of being wrapped in a blankie of sarcasm, and has remained there ever since; failing to channel Norm Macdonald through his pithy commentary while waiting for external factors to force him to do anything different in his lifetime.

No, this is just Gen X memories. All these movies were profitable and a solid merch line like the OT. The video games were good and more accessible during the 2000s than they were in the 90s. It's not like the Sequel trilogy where they start off high off of OT nostalgia and then lose audience bucks by the millions with each sequel. Now Disney Wars needs to use PT nostalgia because they've mined all the OT nostalgia. The Prequels were just mid movies that experimented with visual effects, which is what ILM has always done until the Disney Wars buyout. It's Disney and RLM that didn't understand and pushed the nostalgia angle and it's created a bizarre situation where Disney still hasn't made back money on its investment.

Really, Alex Jones understood these movies.

Jay's such a virtue signaling bad take faggot. If you ever want to ask why RLM is the way it is, the answer is always Gay Blows Men.
Jay is definitely the most indie movie type out of all of them. He'd actually benefit a lot from watching horror anime, oddly enough. Anything by Junji Ito or Kentaro Miura is something that he'd be into, but has no interest in exploring, which is kind of annoying from a liberal arts perspective.

Just because the prequels were profitable doesn't mean they weren't shit. Transformers was profitable FFS, and those films are absolute garbage.

The story in the prequels is barely coherent without having to engage with other media. The other problem it has from a story perspective is that the stakes don't matter. We all know how it ends, with Anakin turning bad and the emperor winning. So you need to make it a character driven plot. The characters need to be fleshed out and engaginging. The prequels are not that. They are not good films. They are not the worst films ever, and compared to modern films you could call them average. But thats only because the quality of media has tanked, not because they were ever good.

The problem from a story perspective is that they can't ever make up their minds and settle on things. Like TPM being all about the Jedi being sent to investigate and negotiate - oh wait, when they get to Coruscant they don't bother testifying before the Senate - even when an investigation is called for. Their trip is literally pointless and could have been recapped in the text crawl for all the impact on the story it made. I could go on but I know how it triggers the spergs because they have trouble separating what is in the external media from what is in the movies.

TPM and AOTC largely wasted a lot of time, leaving ROTS getting overstuffed trying to make up for all the story those earlier films SHOULD have had and set up.
