I can only go back to how he was in the beginning when I first started watching him (2019, Vic stuff), and just take his word. One thing that comes to mind is that I thought that he was sincere with the tradcon stuff. I mean, I don't have the time or energy to look back on specific examples so I have to pull a lot of this from memory. I also do think that Nick was genuinely disgusted with what was happening to Vic, and I think that he thought that he was doing something good. Then again I could just be extremely naïve or Nick could have been Palpatine-like with his public and private masks. I'd like to think that everyone, flawed as we all are, has the capacity to do good things.

I think he's always been an entitled asshole, and the mask did used to slip occasionally, but the turning point came when he earned enough money from streaming to believe it was safe to drop the pretense entirely. I think he assumed that the same level of income was going to keep rolling in regardless of the content.
