Why would a little girl idolize those bitches? They're not pretty, not cool, not funny, not smart, and the hunky boy (Chris Hemsworth) doesn't want them.

A normal girl would rather choose a Bratz doll.

That awesome little lady deserves better heroes than the wet shit that Sony made in a futile hope to made into a cinematic universe so they can compete with Warner Bros. and Marvel.

That awesome little lady deserves to be around better people who would consider any of the characters in Ghostbusters 2016 as "heroic" or a "positive role model."

That awesome little lady deserves better than being used as a deflection tool for people who can't cope that the movie is shit.
 
There's no rule that says she can't watch the 1984 one, enjoy it, and be one of them.

Say what you will about Batman and Robin, Joel Schumacher at least had the decency to apologise for it. Michael Bay even apologised for Revenge of the Fallen (even if it was the most half-arsed apology I've ever read and he still owes us one for Dark of the Moon and Age of Extinction - it was still an apology). I'm not asking for an apology from Paul Feig (I didn't see the movie and I'm not emotionally attached to this franchise), but he should at least take some responsibility for the fact he made a film which a lot of people didn't like and the free market rejected rather than constantly whining "It was dem Trump supporters! Dey're meanie poo-poo heads!"

He doesn't even need to apologize; him and idiots like Jones just need to know when to shut the fuck up. He at most just has to own up to it bombing... that's it.
 
The problem with that delusional demand is you need the movie to actually be financially successful, and that movie was not successful. It bombed in fact. On top of that, movies that are sequels tend to not make as much money. So no way in the 9 levels of Hell will a sequel from that movie ever exist; in fact it'll probably be a soft reboot if they ever do that.

After The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Sony dropped all plans for further sequels and spinoffs to that franchise so they should be smart enough not to give Paul Feig the greenlight for a sequel.
 
Pulling a resurrection on this long-dead thread because RedLetterMedia just released a Mr Plinkett review of Ghostbusters 2016.

 
That was a Half in the Bag episode were they gave their first impression of the film and drank cocktails made from Ecto Cooler and Crystal Skull Vodka.

Oh this gun' be good.

I wish RedLetterMedia made more Plinkett reviews, I really hope they do more of them going forward. I actually saw the Nostalgia Critic review in my suggestions right after finishing the Plinkett review and decided to check it out and the contrast is stark. He spent 60% of the "review" belittling other people's opinions of the movie like his goal isn't to review it but to just argue with everybody in its defense because he's too afraid of landing in the wrong person's camp, and here you have someone who's unafraid of actually dissecting what's wrong with it and why it doesn't work.

Paul Feig Still Wants a ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot Sequel

Paul Feig‘s Ghostbusters reboot was a lot of fun, even though some people got very Mad Online™ about the whole endeavor. Sony was hoping the reboot would launch a whole new franchise, but not-so-great box office seems to have killed that. Still, Feig says he’s definitely open to directing a Ghostbusters reboot sequel should Sony give the idea the go-ahead.


I really enjoyed Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot. Sure, it was nowhere near as good as the original, but it was a funny, entertaining film featuring a compelling cast (especially Kate McKinnon). Feig’s film ends with a post-credit scene that teases a possible sequel, but the sequel never materialized. Sony’s dreams for a new franchise were essentially busted after Feig’s reboot failed to do the mammoth box office numbers the studio had been hoping for. So will we ever see a Ghostbusters sequel? Who knows! According to Paul Feig, that’s really up to the studio. But should they require his services for Ghostbusters 2, he’s more than ready to answer the call. Speaking with Yahoo! Movies, Feig said:

“We would love to; it’s really up to the studio to want to do it. We had so much fun making that movie. The movie’s just really built an audience in the two years since it’s been out. I get contacted every day by people who are such fans of it, and so many women who are inspired by seeing women in science. I will go to my grave so proud of that movie, and so proud of what that cast did in that film.”

In case you’ve forgotten, Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot updated the story to the present day, and focused on a team of female ghost hunters instead of male. For some reason, many, many people online were upset about this, and launched an angry backlash campaign against the film. Despite this backlash, the film wasn’t an outright flop. It took in a worldwide total of $229,147,509, per Box Office Mojo. But Sony, who spent a reported $144 million on the film, had hoped for a lot more.

Feig has commented on the film and its surprising backlash multiple times in the past. “It was a great regret in my life that the movie didn’t do better, ’cause I really loved it,” he previously said. “It’s not a perfect movie. None of my movies are perfect. I liked what we were doing with it. It was only supposed to be there to entertain people.”

The filmmaker has also previously expressed similar hopes for a sequel, saying in November 2016:

“That’s up to the studio because they have to pay for it. Nobody’s called me. But I love those characters and I know they are now heroes and mean a lot to a lot of people, so in a perfect world it would be great if we could see them bust more ghosts, kick more ass, and be awesome again.”
