I hope when the details of the neglect/abuse come to light, that finally puts Jim over the edge. He stated that he didn't think Nick would hurt his kids but there are dozens of red flags that make me believe Nick at minimum does not care about endangering his kids. For example he 100% instructed his kids to be defiant of law enforcement. He put them in danger to cover his own ass and likely as an extension of his childish lolbertarian 'FUCK THE PIGS!!' attitude he's shown on the stream with Kurt.Nick's simply skilled (or was) at leading people to believe he's "fundamentally a good person." One of the most fundamental things about being a good person is valuing the welfare of children and animals. He's allegedly failed on the first one and he's bragged about failing on the second one.
He wears "good person" as a costume or a fashion statement... until it makes him uncomfortable or interferes with his good times. Then it's "WHY WON'T YOU DIE, JIM?" and "YOU SHOULD KILL YOURSELF, JOHN!" and "PROTESTANTS ARE BACKWARDS, BROKEN PEOPLE!"
It was only a couple months ago that he was BITCHING and MOANING about a missionary trip he took when he was a teenager because actually serving God by doing charitable work made him so upset, he held onto it for DECADES as a grievance.
Last year he was making wisecracks about how the Make-a-Wish foundation sucks because all they do is provide for sick and dying children, and only changed his tune when he found out how the surrounding family benefits instead.
He is not a fundamentally good person. I get wanting to think he was, especially for people who fell for his tricks, but that is not the true Nick R.
Honestly I don't extol Jim as a saint so frankly I don't care that much if he wants to continue sweeping for him, but he's giving Nick way more grace than he did Ralph, and at this point Nick has proven many times over that he may actually be even more selfish and unhinged than Ralph. He's definitely more dangerous since he had narc charisma working in his favor prior to the heavy substance abuse.
