I don't think the bullies on the school playground kicked his ass nearly enough. Probably would have done him some good. Maybe he would've learned to toughen up, and not be such a whiny eternal teenager bitch.

If I were him, I'd be scared of going to prison - he would NOT do well, and however you interpret that, yes it's accurate. They decide to pass him around, or they decide they've had it with this eternal teenager and beat him up in the slammer. From what I can tell Nick and Keyla have zero remorse, punishment is the only option. A stretch in prison for both of them and at least a few years of normality for the children, though the damage may already have been done. It will also be funny watching his community meltdown.

I’m sure that bringing the cops in was the first and only step the pastor did, and he didn’t try any of the other suggestions at all. After all, Nick is so receptive to help, I’m sure if the pastor just talked to him none of this would have happened.

I think they are pushing the blame toward the pastor because Dax feels guilty for pushing Rackets too far after he pushed Ralph well over the brink.
