I think they are barely homeschooled anymore. Nick streams to like 3 or 4 am and then says he only has 2 to 3 hours before he has to wake up to drive them somewhere, presumably the coop/custom classes.
 
So 50k is kind of wild for a first offense. Would it be safe to say the local law is probably more than aware of Nick (and his rants even against local lawyers and judges), and are gonna be throwing the book at our noseman?

Just for reference, 30 years or so ago when I had nastier habits than I do now, a major blowout weekend bash would involve something called an "eightball," which was just 3.5 grams (an eighth of an ounce). This would keep a few people wired for a weekend.

I think heresay only applies to court evidence for proving guilt, not for probable cause for investigation. You're also assuming it wasn't one of Cracket's kids who said it to the adult or said it and an adult overheard.
