I mean who knows. Maybe CPS has tried to get to see the situation but Nick has told them to fuck off. And then they went to police.

Obviously Kayla is responsible for her own actions and child neglect (hope the hour disparity between her and Nick getting booked was her finding care for the kids and a humiliating wake up-call) but an unsaid part of this is Nick turned his wife, the mother of their children into a coke-head. He for sure led the charge every step of the way. Not only clear from his personality but from Aaron’s leaks.

From all angles he’s just irredeemable. Someone earlier in the mentioned this started with mushroom and weed after Minnesota legalised it and I remember those streams so clearly now. I hope the children were at a friend's house, or at their grandparents' house when the police came around. Seeing that kind of stuff can really fuck you up. Hell, it can even fuck up the cops. I don't think he's going to lose his law license. Definitely be put on suspension though, likely forced to go to rehab to get reinstated I think.

It was reported on the 16th at 839, although I’m not sure if that’s when they wrote the report or what. What’s crazy to me is that it takes a week for the authorities to take action on potential child abuse. I understand that there’s a process and all that, but we’ve seen many cases where people have concerns about a child’s welfare and the kid ends up dead before anyone takes action.

A mandatory reporter coming to the sheriff’s department in person to express concerns for a child’s welfare sounds like the kind of report one should take seriously. I wonder if all the swatting that was done to Nick was known to the sheriff’s department and that was partially why it took them a week to show up to the residence?
 
Just as an FYI, home schooled kids are usually part of a larger organization that sets curriculum and is a part of a church or religious outfit. For example, my sister's kids are homeschooled, and they have a in-person teaching session every Monday. Helps with socialization and all that. The kids are in a group of 80-100 other kids, and the parents are absurdly tight-knit.

If child abuse or neglect is a factor, I guarantee every parent would notice. Since the home school organization is based in a church, the list of Mandatory Reporters is loooong.
