I had a realization. Is Patrick just Brian from Family Guy? He's also a fraud author with terrible books and no talent, he thinks he's smarter than he actually is, he's liberal as hell except when it benefits him (I think there's also an episode where he becomes Republican with Rush Limbaugh and he sucks ass at actually being conservative), and he strikes out with women except for a literal moron who's his longest relationship.

I'm sure there's more comparisons but at least he isn't fat except for that one episode where he gets married.

Edit: he also dates a granny tranny and is ashamed of it which I think is how Pat would deal. He'd talk about how nice it is and that he doesn't have an issue with it but that manly man tough guy act would require curtailing some things to keep up appearances, up to and including "No, child, my girlfriend is not trans, she is a real woman. Enjoy prison."

This comparison has been made before.

It is apt though, it was oddly like Seth MacFarlane had already been a Pat poster and developed Brian into a parody of him.

Interestingly Brian was originally Seth MacFarlane’s self insert character. And he is a lot more respectable and level headed in the earlier seasons, despite being a dog.

He was originally the foil to Peter Griffin’s buffoonery and childishness, but over time they paired him more with Stewie, which made him more of a douche.
I suppose at least he has the excuse of having to hang around with an emotionally crippled child man, to the point that the child man’s baby is better company.

Fatrick is just fat and retarded. He is more like if Peter Griffin tried to be Brian.

He plays all of these roles very poorly though, but such is the fate of those with many interests and little talents.
