It's also like 2000 dollars or some insane price like that to fly international for civilians last time I checked post corona world which fucking means only the most cancerous of "influencers" and Californians can afford it half the time, but they also usually get given it for free by some company or organization. I wanted to go to japan as well as a bunch of other countries before a certain age hit and it's now past that timeframe thanks to corona hell and price spike nightmares. I've seen recent travel company ads that do consoomer-ish "qUIrKY" shit acting like Shibuya, one of the most popular places to visit in Japan is some obscure weird place nobody knows about. The recent trend of "influencers" moving to japan and stirring shit up in a way that gets normal tourists without citizenship banned from visiting places and the constant demonization of Japanese culture by said people that move there makes the conspiracy theorist in me think there's big money behind the consoomer-ification of international travel and it's specifically being done in a means to spread the eternal current year california corpo mindset shit globally.
I know that feel. I wanted to go Japan for years, but have no one that wants to go who will both follow through and not fuck up the holiday. I want to go in the next few years, but I might have to kick it up to Autumn of this year with or without company, simply because all the foreign "influencers" are fucking everything up at an alarming rate.

I think you have the motive backwards however. It's not an attempt to make consooming global, but more that Japan is basically the last first world high trust nation that exists that hasn't been crushed by globohomo. "Influencers" can't go thrifting because everything of value is scalped, can't do "le epic prank" because they're liable to get knifed or charged with a hate crime, they can't travel because everything has been destroyed or made homogenous. Japan doesn't (or didn't) have these problems, so it's off to the land of the rising sun to vandalise, consoom, and act like a shithead with relatively low personal repercussions.

Went to a famous nature spot last summer and holy shit the number of retards posing by a fucking waterfall trying to get the perfect shot while all done up in caked on makeup.
Thank you. I thought I was going a bit crazy.

Powerlevel. I was walking my dog once and I saw two young women that stood out like a Hawaiian shirt at a funeral taking selfies by a tree. What doesn't come across in pictures of instagram thots is how revealing and out of place those outfits and haircuts are. It's like someone in full clown makeup and costume walking down the street.

You have to be an entirely new breed of adultchild to spend thousands of dollars on Pokemon and anime merch in only a couple of weeks. No one is worse with money than a rich person that grew up middle class.
I think that's the consequence of having a lot of money and not knowing what to do with it.

Except the chinese, who can make new cars for under 3k. That said, they are chinkshit and banned in the western world because of safety, emissions, etc.
That's only the excuse, the reality is they could probably run all the US manufactures out of business. It's like why they banned Norinco and Soviet (Russian) guns because they could have flooded market and just bankrupted most US manufactures.

That and the Chinese companies are even more hostile to the right of repair than US ones.

Speaking of Japan and tourists, they just recently banned foreign tourists from a historical district because they couldn't stop treating it like Disneyland and harassing geisha for photos.

Yes, all of Gion, I believe. I think this ban has been imposed once before, too. The geisha are paid to attend events, not to stroll the streets, so in addition to harassing them, they are also trying to make the geisha late for their actual work appointments. It is grossly rude.

I feel sad about this, because later in life I would dearly love to go and see the Old Capital.

God, what insufferable people. It actually makes me moti that people like this are given opportunities and they piss them away on stupid shit. They didn't even stay for the entirety of the event they were invited to see FOR FREE. They just had to bail to CONSOOOOOM Hatsune Miku. It comes off as massively rude. And between Jaiden's complaints and Alpharad's entire woe is me segment about happiness (consooming in Japan is apparently the road to true and honest happiness), they both come across as really pathetic. I could go on but that's tophat territory lol.

Has anyone ever unpacked black cons00m culture? There is a particular phenomenon amongst blacks known as the "hygiene olympics" in which residual internalized hatred and OCD from slavery has convinced them that they are always dirty and have to compete in extensive rituals to cleanse themselves. Growing up in the souf, many women took baths with bleach. My multiracial grandmother's white grandmother would scrub her and her siblings with brillo pads when they were children to get the black off. When I was a child she would put cleaning solutions in my own baths. When people in cold climates or non-black people post vlogs, the comments are full of black people (from hot climates) arguing that the poster is filthy for not showering 3 times a day, using at least 5 towels per shower, washing their chicken with salt, lime, and vinegar, etc.

A large amount of the "cleantok" community is full of black people wasting money on junk to neurotically clean every crevice of their body and home and even more junk to organize and clean the junk. We are supposed to believe this person is clean and holistic despite the fact that they're morbidly obese, showing signs of OCD, and pissing away money on excessive resource usage and worthless Temu crap. Day by day, the stakes are raised as more and more people want to become the leader in immaculate hygiene.

Portable washer for dish towels

Same 450 lb Youtuber joking about his mother berating him for taking short showers as a child

Niki, princess of black cleantok, doesn't wash her hands in the middle of the night after a wee, but absolutely must have several doohickies to hygienically apply her 20-step skincare routine. Also cabinets full of Stanley cups, "watertok" supplies, and lazy cooking tools, only to still buy Popeye's and 44 oz sugary beverages.

Black people know their version of cleanliness is so extreme that they have created FUBU compilations and hashtags to only interact with each other.

Also overlaps with the "Luxury Living on Section 8" / "It's not where you live, it's how you live" side of Youtube.

The general theme is mismanagement of funds with the excuse of hygiene and bettering their environment. Notice how everybody in the above videos has money for cleaning doohickies, gaming consoles for their unemployed men and overgrown sons, and expensive weaves, eyelash extensions, and claw nails.

This seems less a consoomer or black specific thing and more a "i grew up in a dirty fucking city and had to clean the shit in the air off me constantly to the point i developed OCD" thing

Not really, I grew up knowing a lot of white trash and hinchos and they did not view expensive sneakers, biweekly beauty appointments, gaming consoles, seafood boils, steak nights, and plastic crap as necessities nor did they allocate their limited resources towards them.

Man, all that and they're still black.

Better than meth tbh

Yep. Fortunately I was ahead of the curve on that one, so I “got mine”, but I still feel for the people who are looking for cheap classic games.

I’ll say it now too, but I think that prices for these games won’t go down, because even though millions were produced back in the day, the market landscape has changed, which is most obvious with Japan. It’s no longer just Japanese people and foreigners who go there that can buy the games, it’s the entire world. When you consider it at that scale, the supply suddenly seems pretty low, compared to the demand.
It's not just games, anything uniquely Japanese right now is getting essentially stolen from the actual Japanese, by the Japs that can make good $$ doing so. An obvious one I came across recently is Japanese cars older than 25 years (read up on U.S. import law, foreign vehicles can only be brought in if they're older than 25 years since the 80s'). Any half interesting car that's in their domestic market is getting exported by people who will hoard RHD vehicles as a status symbol, and it's only going to get worse. Something even worse, though not quite 'consoomer', just more malicious in general, is cheap Japanese land getting eaten up by retards from the west, which can probably at least partially be blamed on big names like Pewdiepie moving over there, though not entirely. The Japanese countryside was mostly fled from by people leaving for the cities, thus those areas are nearly abandoned and very cheap now. Not for long, and I'll bet this leads to a decimation of their remaining nature if their govt does nothing, which I fear it will seeing their population catastrophe.

Probably not Joe Schmo who watched Pewds move there. It's more than likely Jewish/chinese land speculation and investment firms, the same ones buying up all the land in the US, Canada, and Europe. You seen all the claims in the news of "investment in Japan?" Yeah, I have a sneaking suspicion they consider buying out the countryside to be "investment".

I saw this on the Verizon website this morning and it made my eye twitch

Yeah, that's pretty likely, but the problems caused by middle-class and up people trying to flee other western nations for cheaper ones to live in will cause plenty of issues themselves, and I do believe are a bulk of it. Pewds alone isn't *the* reason for this, he was just an example, but having so many influencers say how great the place is doesn't help, and many will arrive to shit it up.

Problems like... paying taxes, not committing crime, and being productive members of society? I suppose it would be a problem for the places they're leaving.

No, they're fleeing to have those positives, but those positives will not stay if things keep going as they are. Those coming in do not have the same culture, will drive up prices for naturalized Japanese, and the nature that was finally recovering somewhat is about to get fucked.

When I was in Japan I hiked around a Shinto shrine. I was supremely paranoid the whole time, even though there were plenty of regular Japanese folks also touring. I made sure to read all the signs and be careful with any photos I took. There were also a fair number of people in more traditional garb obviously there for religious reasons.

I also remember walking by a WW2 war museum and briefly considering going inside and looking around. Then I realized that may not have been a very sensitive thing to do.

To be fair it's really not that hard to not be an asshole, but I guess that's a bit much for some peole. And I guess we have the same issues in the US when the feral Chinks come to visit.

I had heard about the trend of little kids playing in the testers of high-end beauty products but I hadn't seen it before.

But I was at a Target the other day and it was pretty wild to see. There were about 6 kids, no parents in sight, just dumping tester products into their hands and playing it in like they were making potions. There was foundation smeared all over the displays. Eventually someone's mom showed up and her daughters were begging to buy some sort of product.

I think what I saw was still a freak event, but it really does seem a trend for young children to want to spend their money on fancy skincare- even anti-aging skincare.

I honestly don't think it's inherently bad if children/tweens take an interest in hygiene and skincare products rather than, say, tanning beds and drag makeup. It probably is good for tweens who are in the sun all day playing sports or whatever to wear a face lotion with SPF. The majority of sun damage, which can lead to skin cancer, comes from our childhood years. Acne can also cause lifelong scaring and self-image issues in tweens, so I don't see anything wrong with anti-acne products aimed towards them.

But fancy serums... retinol creams....? Just a waste of money, with a small chance of skin damage if some 10 year old overdoes it with something strong.
