That's the main takeaway - Pratchett is people and most good novels really are. We even have terms for ones that don't, things like Mary Sue and what not. That Rei movie whatever it was called wasn't shit because of the special effects (well done) or the worldbuilding (decently well done), but because all the characters were one dimensional cut outs and boring as fuck.I always found a lot of the little references to be secondary to the books anyway, they were just fun little winks and nods to the reader. At the end of the day the books I read were about people and how they interacted with each other. Had a lot of neat ideas on how magic worked though, something I've always appreciated.
The interesting thing about Pratchett is that his real villains are fucking horrifying at time (Carcer, Reacher Gilt) but his characters that he obviously "wrote to be disliked" like Corporal Visit eventually become lovable, because Pratchett writes them so well and multi-dimensional.
Fats literally has Firstname Lastname and Plonald Flump.
Could be two things or more. One could be their lawyer recommended pushing for it because you start negotiating from a strong point, and then they actually got it because FFWBT. Or they pushed for it even avoiding child support (and alimony, was that ever determined?) because how much money would YOU pay to keep Fatrick out of your life forever?I always assumed it was for two reasons. The first to keep Fatrick from ever having contact with their family again, and the second being that with terminated parental rights PCJ could then step in to formally adopt the kid. I wouldn't blame them for wanting to stay far the fuck away from him after those threats.
