Dairy Is Worse Than Coca-Cola, Says Leading Longevity Expert

Leading longevity expert Dr Michael Greger has explained why Coca-Cola is preferable to dairy milk in a new interview.

The renowned plant-based physician was appearing on Chris Evans’ Virgin Radio Breakfast Show to discuss his new book, How Not To Age. The book is described as a “scientific approach to getting healthier as you get older.” In it, Dr Greger discusses the wide ranging benefits of healthy plant-based foods, as well as the issues of animal foods.

Referencing some “fun headlines” from the book, Evans asked Dr Greger if Coca Cola is “good for you.” To this, Dr Greger laughed and said: “only compared to dairy milk, for example, in terms of IGF-1, this pro-aging hormone.” (He then made very clear that Coca Cola was not in any way healthy in a general sense…).

IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor) is a hormone involved in the normal growth and development of body tissues. It assists the body’s transition from childhood to adulthood, and is necessary for growth. Studies have shown, however, that high levels of IGF-1 can increase risk of several types of cancers.
In the interview with Evans, Dr Greger appeared to be referencing a 2009 study that looked at the short term effects of replacing milk with cola beverages on IGF-1. The study followed a group of men aged 22-29 over two 10-day periods. In one period, they drank 2.5 liters of Coca Cola a day. In the other, they drank the same amount of semi-skimmed milk. The participants had higher levels of IGF-1 in the milk period.

Consuming dairy milk has been found by multiple studies to raise levels of IGF-1 in the blood. Dr Greger has previously gone into more detail about the issues with IGF-1, saying: “When you’re a kid extra growth is good, but when you’re an adult extra growth can mean a tumor.”

He went on to say that levels of IGF-1 go up when you’re a child, then come down again. Having high levels as an adult increases the risk of both prostate and breast cancers, as it helps tumors to grow, and cancer cells to break off from the tumor, migrate in surrounding tissues, and invade the blood stream. “IGF-1 is a growth hormone that makes things grow, that’s what it does. But too much growth when we’re grown up can mean cancer,” he said.

Dr Greger has also previously stated that “A plant-based diet and a regular exercise routine may reduce our IGF-1 levels in less than two weeks.

Who is Dr Greger?

Dr Greger is a hugely well-respected physician and nutrition expert. He is the owner of Nutritionfacts.org, a free resource containing science-based information on food and diets. Prior to How Not To Age, he wrote and How Not To Die(2015) and How Not To Diet (2019).

He is well-known in the vegan community for his advocacy for plant-based eating. He has previously described animal-free diets as a “one-stop shop” against chronic diseases.

Someone will come along and sperg about A1 and A2 milk so I won’t, but high IGF-1 has a very easy way to reduce it and that’s intermittent fasting. Drinking 2.5l of milk a day would need you to be drinking it constantly, and that’s one path to high IGF-1 - just constantly shoving food down you. It means your insulin levels are constantly high and the fat as well will mean it never goes down.
What he’s done is basically create veal calf /foie gras conditions then extrapolate’milk bad.’
So... should I not be drinking my morning coffee and a glass before bed?

He looks like a perfect mix between a soyjak and a Jewish stereotype, especially in that creepy smiling picture. Of course he'd be one to claim soda is better for you than dairy.

Thanks for posting this, anyway. It's just even more proof that doctors don't know what the hell they're spouting, and should always be questioned. Just like the vaccines.

Cow milk is garbage anyway and indegistible by humans. What you want is cheese, particularly mold ones.

No no. Milk is very good for you. Just don’t down five pints a day of it. Five pints of anything a day isn’t good for you. Enjoy your coffee and warm bedtime Milkies.

>kike is fat and unhealthy
>blames malk
Sounds about right.
First they call it white supremacy to drink milk. Then they gaslight people into thinking they're lactose intolerant. Now the mask comes off and they call from full bans, calling it worse than soda.
The Jew hates the white man who can provide for himself and his family with dairy.

My nigga, Coca Cola will literally dissolve a steel nail, there is absolutely NO WAY that its "better for you" than diary, and that's before going into its high sugar content and caffeine.

Fuck off kike, lmao.

>humans have an evolutionary history with dairy for hundreds of thousands of years

> Coke was invented yesterday

> "Coke is better for you than dairy products!"

Not all humans.

Maybe because this guy is Jewish, milk is bad for him, but that's not the norm for the rest of the world.

Southern Americans are somehow lactose intolerant due to their Spanish heritage and the fact Incas never drank milk of any animal, but we eat a lot of meat. Ancient Andeans ate quinoa and potatoes though, and if you give that diet to white people, they can explode in diarrhea and gas. You can't make that type of generalization about foods.

(I'm a bit sceptical about this chart, though, because Northern Peru consumes A LOT of cheese and good cheese on top of it and they're fine)

The Mongolians are lactose intolerant too, but they eat a lot of fermented dairy, might be the same thing. On the other hand, the Mongolians may just power through it like the Asian Chads they are.

This vegan nutjob is an 'expert' now?! Even redditors mock this guy. There's whole channels on youtube dedicated to tearing apart his stupid claims, he's rather infamous for claiming that smoking cigarettes is better for you than eating eggs.

He's also looked 65 for most of his life, which wouldn't be such an issue if he wasn't in his early 50's.

I would think for Jews, that depends on which country they're originally from. I don't think it'd be the same for Russian (Ashkenazi) ones vs say, Moroccan (Sephardi), The basic foods consumed by both are pretty different, with imo Ashky food being generally unappetizing. Rugelach is good but fuck "kosher butter", which is code for margarine. That's for suckers who keep kosher and cheap bakeries who don't want to dish out the money for dairy butter. Sometimes they use half butter and half margarine, so it's not solely because they want to keep it non-dairy kosher.

>humans have an evolutionary history with dairy for hundreds of thousands of years
this is simply not true.
lactase persistence (the ability to produce lactase, the enzyme necessary for the digestion of lactose, beyond childhood) is a genetic mutation that only appeared in the human genome around 10,000 years ago. it also didn't become a dominant trait in northern europeans until the middle ages, so less than 1,000 years ago.

Fun fact- Whites are statistically the only group of people on earth who aren't majority lactose intolerant, particularly Northern Europeans (only ~5% are lactose intolerant). Conversely, 75-95% of Asians and blacks are lactose intolerant. Next time you're hanging out with your friend Chang or Jamal, be sure to eat ice cream in front of them, content in the knowledge that you can, at your convenience, have a delicious treat any time that they'll never be able to without harming themselves.
this is also not true.
only about one third of humans express the gene for lactase persistence, with the highest frequencies found in northern european populations as well as in west african, east african, and middle eastern populations. several independent mutations occurred in several different populations over time, and these mutations were more the result of disease and famine, rather than a result of the domestication of animals.

some populations with high lactase persistence consume little to no dairy (such as hadza hunter-gatherers), and some populations with low lactase persistence consume large amounts of dairy (such as mongolian herders). while the inability to digest lactose can certainly lead to digestive discomfort, it's only truly harmful to those who are malnourished or immunocompromised, which is why the genetic mutations occurred in the first place.

Milk is a fabulous resource that (mainly white) people have been enjoying for thousands of years, being incredibly beneficial to our health and well-being what with having high levels of calcium and other yummy things. Just because invasive turd worlders can't handle milk and cheese like Europeans have evolved to doesn't make milk and cheese bad.
no. the reason that northern europeans have such high lactase persistence is because neolithic farmers brought with them crops that didn't grow well in northern european climates, forfeited hunting and gathering the resources that were available to them, and lived with their animals in squalid, concentrated communities where the malnutrition, diarrhea, and dehydration led to widespread famine and disease. if you're able to digest dairy today, it's because your ancestors only avoided death by forcing their children to consume it, because it was literally all that they had.

Cow milk is garbage anyway and indegistible by humans. What you want is cheese, particularly mold ones.
absolutely. the reason why those without the gene for lactase persistence (and even those with it who are lactose intolerant) are able to digest cheese, but not milk or cream, is because the bacteria that are used to produce cheese consume the lactose (which is a sugar), so there's very little lactose remaining for the body to digest.

He does not look healthy. He looks like he sits around in the dark all day eating soy and not exercising.
He's got a gut and no arms or neck, and the less said about his face and head the better. Looking at the man I should probably do the opposite of what he claims if I want to be healthy. Time to start drinking more milk.

Unless it's water, you'll probably have something wrong with you after drinking 2.5 liters of anything daily.

why did you edit my comment to exclude east african populations?
is this why? one line of a generic article on lactose intolerance from the fucking nih is your source?! ok.
Lactase nonpersistence is also very common in people of West African, Arab, Jewish, Greek, and Italian descent.

from the annual review of genomics and human genetics, where the lp genes were actually researched:
Notably, worldwide frequencies have been compiled in several reviews (50, 58, 61, 63, 114, 126, 132) and suggest that approximately a third of humans are lactase persistent. The global picture is one of a large area of high frequencies in Europe and patchier distributions of high frequencies in West Africa, East Africa, the Middle East [ ... ]
More specifically, populations that have an LP frequency higher than 75% are found as follows:
Uniformly in northern Europe (Ireland, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Estonia, Sweden, and Finland) and central Europe (Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and northern France), and in populations with similar European ancestry (the United States, Canada, and Australia)
Sparsely in West Africa [Niger (among the Tuareg, camel and goat herders) and Senegal (among the Fula, cattle herders)]
Sparsely in East Africa [Tanzania (among the Iraqw, agropastoral populations that raise cattle), Kenya (among the Maasai, cattle herders), Rwanda (among the Tutsi, cattle herders), and Sudan (among the Beja, camel and sheep herders)]
Sparsely in the Middle East [Saudi Arabia and Jordan (among the Bedouin, camel and goat herders)]
