Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

Why is it so hard for some people to just drink water? Does everything need to be neon colored and tasting like a spoonful of sugar for people just to not feel thirsty? I know he's probably playing it up for the video but who actually wants their water to taste like candy?! It's such a massive overindulgence.
When I was a kid, our parents used to lose their shit if we asked for a new bottle of cordial before we finished the old one.

Every year that passes I feel more and more like my Depression raised grandparents.

I remember this trend started as a way to feel good about yourself for buying a bottle that was not made of plastic ♻️ 🌏. Kleen Kanteen is or was the biggest brand.

Some people use metal bottles because they're worried about microplastics and xenoestrogens or whatever leaching from plastic water bottles into the water. Which is futile because that shit's already in the water supply and can't be effectively filtered out.

I think those are the two biggest factors that drive the metal bottle trend. That being said I have one and don't hate it. I only really bother to use it for camping/hiking tho
Have a plastic 1000ml Nagene bottle. Personally love it, great for work and very light. That said I'm not against metal bottles, even a Stanley, I just think basing your life around it is stupid

i have no way to verify this but it would be very funny if true

every video starts with him dumping out a plastic bottle of water
thats like the final nail in the coffin, him signaling to us that, if we were ever under the impression that he's using these metal bottles for any worthwhile reason- rest assured, viewer, no he is not, as he takes a moment to prove to you that he has no concern for any rational reason one might desire a Stanley cup. it really is just about the trend.

Air up bottles (packs with flavoured water like cola) have been making the rounds on annoying as fuck youtube adverts

https://us.air-up.com/starter-set

The fuck is that thumbnail? I already know what this product is from Youtubers promoting it themselves, and nothing is going to make me want to avoid it more than putting el goblina as the face of the product on top of that. And what is with marketing retards and trying to market (thing) not as the (thing) that it is? Is it supposed to be reverse psychology? Apple did it with the ipad a few years ago, 'what's a computer?' now this.
Good lord she's hideous. What costume designer/director set it up like this? Is it supposed to be relatable? Desirable?

I don't know what happened to white people that they purposefully make simple things more difficult in order to alleviate nebulous guilt while being completely ineffectual or attempting to solve a problem that doesn't exist.
You just answered your own question.

Those little drink mixes are so fucking gross. I really enjoy how every video starts with him dumping out a plastic bottle of water before opening his plastic drink mix and finally using a straw to suck down his disgusting sugar water concoction.
That's the part I don't get. I know I keep bringing up LA tap water, but if the powders were supposed to cover up the taste of shitty tap water, but they use bottled water, then it completely undermines that reason.

Damage like scraping the inside wall with a metal straw?

>Lead poisoning symptoms in children
Signs and symptoms of lead poisoning in children include:
  • Developmental delay
  • Learning difficulties
  • Irritability
  • Sluggishness and fatigue
  • ...
  • Seizures
  • Eating things, such as paint chips, that aren't food (pica)
If we extend that to manchildren, who does that sound like?

Innovative, alternative materials like Lead...2!
Boring! They ought to get really innovative, like cadmium and hexavalent chromium.
Might I suggest mercury, given its talent for forming amalgams?

But what they’re alluding to is probably soldering the bottom to some kind of cap.

In real life, there’s an easy, non toxic alternative to soldering called “brazing.”

Metal containers hold colder longer. If you like water just above freezing it's much better this way.

Same reason why cans are better than plastic bottle for soda.

ill defend glass for days mate let me tell you, it may not be as effective but i've had glass bottles keep water ice cold all day as long as you keep them out of the sun
if it's in a bag it's gonna stay cold a good while

"Yes, Stanley uses lead in its manufacturing process for its cups, but they only pose a risk of lead exposure if the cover on the bottom of the tumbler comes off and exposes the pellet used to seal the cup's vacuum insulation, a Stanley spokesperson says."

I guess they vacuum seal and then press a lead pellet into the open hole to plug it. You'd think there'd be some other way to do this. It's insane to me that supposedly you'd have to wear a hole into the bottom of the cup to get the exposure.

That woman's CoLLecTioN of Stanley cups all tested positive for lead, they couldn't all have a fucked up plug thingy at the same time, could they? Seems unlikely.
