With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

I was under the impression the tier list was based on entertainment value. Josie was not entertaining, majority of her fans are legit unhinged freaks that simped for her because she's "so kawaii X3" but if you really separated her from her fans and just looked at her performance on the show...she hardly did anything. She still had her moments but honestly those were more early on, it's like as the show went on she had very little motivation to do anything, even in the final challenge it felt like she had pretty low energy and didn't really care either way. Everyone else in that specific S and A tier went above and beyond to provide entertainment for the show, though in airsoft fatty's case it was almost entirely natural for him. B tier are people who, whether intentionally or not, provided a lot of great moments that made the show better. C and D tier are people who either didn't try that hard or just weren't entertaining though Simmon definitely provided some good material before getting kicked out because of how weird he is.

I used the left-right order as well, I dunno if other people do that but maybe there's some nuance there.

Letty: Not to fellate Letty for the twentieth time in a row but the show was basically about her. Someone like that could easily have become annoying, but she paced herself and was deliberate about including and playing off of others rather than shoving them out of the way. Mauro has Letty to thank for all the times he was interesting.
I think it will legitimately be hard for them to make a season 2 without someone with her personality polishing everyone. That's why she is the only exception for me about not bringing back old contestants.

Vance: Vance is that sort of A tier that makes you feel like he's a B tier because of how stubbornly he refused to become S tier. Like if Chris had only teetered on the stairs and not fallen and for a moment everyone got all bricked up thinking he would fall over and how funny it would've been if he had. If his girlfriend's phone was dead when they got their phones back and if he was on Adderall he coulda been S tier.

Jon: I agree with what everyone else said, it's not something he can take personal credit for but he was an icebreaker for over a week and a dependable virtual pet to stare at on days when the audience couldn't even interact and absolutely nothing else was going on.

Josie: C tier is "you were there" status. I know the editing has been crazy but I think it's really telling that Josie's "episode" so far was the worst one, and it was her being forced to do public speaking. I'm betting she never actually talked anytime they came upstairs and shoved a camera in her face, which is why she has been almost totally unrepresented in these episodes. I'm pleasantly surprised her fans haven't been complaining asking for more footage of her contributions on episodes 3-6 even though they know damn well that footage does not exist.

Freeloaders: I'm putting Lance above Chris because he redeemed the camping slog as well as he possibly could have, by engineering the biggest, realest conflict between contestants, in a very careful and balanced way. If Chris had, for example, managed to make Letty leave, it would have felt cunted. The fat motherfucker who chased Letty and only Letty for weeks finally makes her quit. People would have been baying for Sam to bring in an OF model to sleep in Vance's bed with him after that. Jet was the one who told Lance to take stuff, but Lance executed on it very carefully so that he looked like a hero for instigating it and Damiel looked like a massive bitch. I think Frank's struggle and why I rated him so low was that everyone in the house was expecting him to be a dick, so most of the reactions he actually got out of people were minimal or even just incorrect. I'll even write a little about Chip... Chip was the closest they will ever get to being able to bring a dog into the house, and that's why he was a great contribution to the show. A freeloader who everyone is happy to watch move around the house and vibe. A true virtual pet.

And yeah I don't get the hype for the entity either, they were never going to convince the cast that the house is haunted. It was mainly a toy for the audience on the eastern hemisphere to get excited about while looking at nothing.

idk man I thought it could be neat as a way to cause some sort of conflict in the house. Could've used it in a way to make the fish work together to banish it or started causing drama by moving things around a la Lance kicking off the Dam/Letty fight by stealing his shoes but they never did anything with it. Could've started off subtle with just small disturbances and then escalates as the fish dwindle down

I felt compelled to put Josie in A tier because of how beloved she is by the community and her winning the show but realistically if we are ranking based on entertainment value she's a B maybe even a C not an A. It just feels wrong to put her that low. She is an integral part of the show so I keep her at A.

Main reason i think she belongs low is that, if we got a very comprehensive, professional documentary version of the show, and then someone took that documentary and cut out every scene that had Josie in it or elsewise CG'd her out, somebody watching it as a first exposure to fishtank would not pick up on it until the very end when Letty is competing against nobody.

The only other person they could do that with is Mauro. Even Simmons would be jarring. Letty arguing with the air where Sylvia belongs would be jarring. There's basically no moments that lean on Josie.
 
Fatty falling down the stairs is more memorable then anything Josie did in the last 1/3 of the show.

Was this a previously released deleted scene or is this a brand new edit? Hopefully they'll keep releasing edited clips of the missing segments people keep bitching and crying about. That would solve a ton of problems with the edited episodes and keeps fans happy. Frank Hassle calling Jet a faggot might be what ends up saving the show. Sometimes all a nigga needs is a little bit of humbling.

Releasing clips of good stuff doesn't fix the shit overall product. I will can't show fishtank to find who knows nothing about the show because the way it's being edited is fundamentally flawed.

Don't you know, he's been working for months on a very intricate lore involving soviet-era time machine asthetics and mechanics, there's no need to make sure that the basics of a reality show work well. It's like a Bethesda game, big scope, but no refinement. It just werks.

@Aidan your tier list is all dumb. Letty is C tier, Simmons D tier, Ella C tier. Alex & Donatirus carried the middle arc of the show. Jon gets C tier for metagaming challanges despite being entertaining. Frank gets B tier for being offensive to my waifu. Vance gets C tier for bullying Josie. Honestly, Josie gets C tier judging by show performance ONLY.

I can agree Jet is egotistical and Sam has probably given him a verbal whooping for driving fans away, as the ego does. So little power and he's thrashing contestants for fun...

Letty gets A tier for being a foil to Josie, even if Josie didn't do much at all and was BORING, at least she isn't evil.

Alex, Dontarius, Chip, Frank, Fatty all get S tier for being exceptional performers. Sorry guys I drank a whole Steel Reserve 42oz and am ranting again. Carpentry takes a lot out of you!

Excluding my personal feelings, this is my tier list. Jet gets D tier BTW. Sam the same for giving Jet enough slack to make such a travesty.
