Why is Kumachi the most wholesome man in One Piece?
He's a man of God. One Piece is a world that has fallen to atheism hence why it is run by corrupt monsters who exploit everyone beneath them for sport.

That is meant entirely as a joke.

Also posting this as a reminder that he originally was going to be wearing orange. Not certain if this was meant to be a prison jumpsuit or something but I agree with the change

Another banger of a chapter. Now speculation time! So I'm against the theory that Bonnie is Ginny purely on how when Luffy and friends found her in the ocean, she was in a childs body, the Age Age fruit would be disabled at that point and looking how Ginny looks when she's 13, her size could correspond to having a lot of her mother and would track with the timeline.

Other theory, Kuma didn't seem to be brave enough to respond to Ginny's feelings when she proposed, what if Ginny ended up hitched to Roger? Last flashback point is 14 years, and prior to that is 22, Luffy would have been born in 19, so possible that in that period after joining the Revolutionary army she got closer to Dragon while Kuma was still unable to respond properly. Would also explain why it's Roger the one getting the report of Ginny's abduction and his face.

Now this brings the next big question, is Bonnie Kuma's daughter? Is she Dragon's daughter? Bonnie doesn't seem to have any of the traits of Kuma's race. Also, maybe Ginny was already pregnant with Dragon's second kid when she got abducted (again, 14 years ago, she is born almost a year later). So yeah, this is my expectation, Dragon for whatever reason fails/cannot save her, Kuma comes in, but has to sell his soul to the Goverment in the form of becoming a Shichibukai and participating in the Pacifista program to only possibly be able to save Bonnie.

... well all of that or maybe Bonnie is a clone of Ginny. Not the first one we've seen.

He's a man of God.

Man, you joke but his first appearance of him carrying the Bible in his hand as he makes a stop before he heads off to become lobotomized is so much sadder in hindsight. He's been a long-time believer, he's looking for comfort in the best place he knows to make peace with himself that he's doing the right thing for the sake of his people, and Bonney. This is what a righteous king does.

This is absolutely something a man of God would do. Kumachi is definitely the most wholesome, most pure-of-heart character in all of One Piece who's not Koala and Otohime, and the revelations of him are making us all out to look like fools for not believing him. (Although he was always one of the most mysterious of the Warlords besides Mihawk, his actions were always so odd, though it became more admirable and depressing the more we saw him.)

Chapter 1,098: "The Birth of Bonney."

  • Ginny was kidnapped and forced to become the wife of a Tenryuubito (celestial dragon).
  • 2 years later, Ginny was freed from her slavery because she contracted a deadly disease.
  • Ginny contacted Kuma one last time before she died.
  • During their conversation, Kuma managed to identify the location where Ginny was and teleported there, but it was too late.
  • Ginny was dead. Next to her was baby Bonney, who suffered from the same illness as Ginny.
  • Kuma took care of Bonney since then, we see how Bonney grows with him.
  • At the end of the chapter we see how King Becori of the Kingdom of Sorbet returns there to cause problems.
There is a break next week.
