I think Jack is just angy because he is no longer capable of legible handwriting after destroying his arms, mind and nervous system through gluttony and sloth.
 
After talking to a teacher friend, I've learned that there are, normally, write-in sections in state testing, for English and History.

I'm sure Jack thinks are outdated things to teach, too.

I LOVE that cursive could be taught in schools again. Pen to paper is a great way to absorb a lesson in school.

Strong disagree, I remember filling out entire pages of notes in high school, only to never use them, either on a test or for revision. I was always angry when I threw them in the trash when the semester ended. (Our teachers were sticklers about this. If you abridged notes or took simple summaries, you were marked down.)
Thankfully I changed schools between grades and didn't have to do that shit at the second school.
Needless to say, those notes made for heavy ring binders. I did get one that zipped shut, It's one of the few school supplies I was ever thankful for.

Yeah have to agree with this. First year college I had a terrible course but a great TA. His one rule was you were forbidden from taking notes in the tutorial but he'd allow you to write one sentence. And it had to be in crayon.

The class was about speaking and bouncing actual ideas off each other even if they were unpopular because even an unpopular opinion can have some value to it even it if means, "don't do this".
