I can't really say I'm a JF aficionado, because I haven't watched any of his content outside of his Trout livestream vods and some appearances in other peoples livestreams. I did read the court docs in the thread and looked a bit into his professional life.

He has an obsession in having children. To a really unbelieveable degree. He doesn't seem to care at all about the women he is with, but wants them to carry his children.

All of this is before he had any significant internet presence. During this time he was working at Duke as a postdoctoral researcher and his viewpoints could only be detrimental to his financial situation

I'm not saying it's impossible, but I am very skeptical about the possibility of a single person setting this up - much less doing it convincingly, and without being detected.

The emulator? Sure, okay I can see how that would work - unless the authorities search the device itself, and if you are a murder suspect they are going to get that warrant. Then suddenly they find you had software on your device for emulating human behaviour.

Location spoofing, I would say is probably the difficult part. For two reasons, yes you can spoof MAC addresses and SIM cards, but you would need to ensure there are never duplicates on the network.

You would also need to have the phones in physically different locations, and their detections would need to be synchronised to the point where the "movement" is believable.

Likewise, if you are identified as buying a large number of phones that could draw suspicion, and if the phones get discovered you could be fucked...

Point is, you would need to buy and test all these technical solutions without getting caught. Without leaving a financial or electronic trace doing so, and then you would need to set them up perfectly sychronised without being detected elsewhere... It's just not very likely.

Something I've seen on The First 48 is logs of how the phone is used, and this can be strong evidence.

For example, if Elora used her fingerprint to unlock her phone 99% of the time, and then when it was used in the days after she was thought to have left, the phone was unlocked via a passcode, this would point to, "people are creatures of habits and they don't easily break habits." This would be enough probable cause to get some search warrants.

I saw one episode where they knew the time of death, and then the killer used the victim's bloody fingerprint of their dead body to unlock the phone. Afterwards, the fingerprint scanner had some long presses with no fingerprint data present, implying the killer was wiping blood off of the phone with a cloth or something.

If she has an iPhone that he unlocked with the face ID scanner on, forget about it. The phone would log that it was unlocked by a person with a face that didn't match hers.

Actually if they can get their hands on the phones metadata there is a bunch of interesting shit you can pull such as was the screen being rotated? Was the fitness app detecting steps (ie counting vibrations consistent with walking rather than sitting still) were apps being used?

google search "death in absentia" for Canada, or specifically what state he lives in, and youll see the info for it, theres official documents released by the state

What happens when a person disappears?​

A missing person is presumed alive for seven years following the date of disappearance. During this time, someone can be named to watch over the missing person’s property and affairs. After the end of the seven-year period, a court can make a decision declaring the person dead.
