I'm not an economist and I don't know much about wall street. However I think it would be interesting to determine if conglomerates specifically inject wokeness into a failing brand as a bid to make up for losses and get an good ESG score while avoiding turning their successful brands woke to not alienate that brands consumer base. Smaller companies don't have the amount of power to do this so I'm talking about large companies that own a ton of brands.

Depends on what you mean by ESG score. If you mean general asspats, yeah, maybe. If you mean an assessment by lenders, market bodies etc, no. Ultimately ESG in that context will be more related to the risk in the business arising from eg a company’s environmental record, or its crappy governance, or the effect of its factory on a small town. Tanking a brand in your portfolio won’t move the needle positively if ESG assessment is of this second sort.

So why do it? Look at what they’re doing - the occasional ad. You pay to place the ad, but the endless outrage and news stories? That’s earned media, baby. Your brand is being talked about, and your hope is that the people pissed off and swearing never to buy your stuff again are massively outweighed by normies who keep buying. Plus you get SJW love. A risky tactic, but not guaranteed to fail.

BlackRock in particular partially bases its decision to invest on the "wokeness" of a corporation. So even if the consumers hate it, it can drive up the share price.

We don't have to. Nobody have to. Everytime a troon or some retard throws a pity party on reddit or social media I laugh and call him a faggot.

Obviously that only serves for me to laugh a bit and have my account banned (which I can make another for free and in less than 5 minutes) but for the troons is devastating.
